Need advice. Most of the photos I posted on my wordpress page have disappeared. Here’s an example: https://acidheroes.wordpress.com/2014/08/01/5164/
1.) Is there any way to retrieve those photos? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Were the images uploaded to your media library or hosted externally? If they were in your media library, did you delete them from the library?
-
It looks like the photos you posted were hosted on Facebook. I cannto guarantee any recovery of those images, since they were hosted by another service. If someone took them down, then you will have to reach out to that person if you want to use them again.
It is best practice to store the photos locally to your site in your media library. Please review this article for more information on using your media library: https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/

Thanks ariwinokur.
@ acebackwords,
The first image on the post you provided the link to above came from https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net, while the second came from https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net. The pages linked pages each presently display the error message “Content not found.” That probably means that the images were deleted from, or perhaps moved to a different location on, the source. -
The photos were originally from my cellphone. Then I posted them on my Facebook page because that was the only way I could figure out how to get them on the internet. Then I copy-and-and-pasted them directly onto my wordpress page.
I’ve never been able to figure out how to post the photos in the media file. I dont have a computer, just a cellphone.
The original photos are still posted on my Facebook page.
I appreciate all the feedback and advice.

You don’t post photos to the media library. You upload them to the media library, or directly to a post or page. However, I’m inexperienced regarding blogging with handheld devices, so I’ll tag the topic for staff attention.

Sorry if I misunderstood the phrase “how to post the photos in the media file.” Not sure what you mean by that.
-
If your phone is an iPhone or Android, you should download the WordPress app. It has an easy method for uploading pictures to your media library.
-
Musicdoc1. Yeah, that’s what I meant. “Uploading the photos to the media library.” I’m not very compute savvy.
-
Ariwinokur. I have a Virgin mobile Android cellphone. I’ll see if I can figure out how to download the WordPress app. Thanks.

Hi @acebackwords,
As mentioned previously, the issue here is that the photo either A) doesn’t exist at Facebook or B) has changed URLs at Facebook. For example, the first photo in the post you provided has the following HTML:
<img class="img" src="https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t1.0-9/p403x403/10482633_941473509203526_211554204082340399_n.jpg" alt="Photo: Moo Cat staring down Blondie. They've been feuding for years." width="379" height="504">This tells the page to get an image from:
https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t1.0-9/p403x403/10482633_941473509203526_211554204082340399_n.jpgUnfortunately, when you load that page at Facebook, the content doesn’t exist so we cannot load it. The best solution would be to use the Android app to upload images directly to your site as @ariwinokur explained. You can find a direct link to the app here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.wordpress.android
Alternatively, you could try to update the image URLs on your site once you find out the new URL from Facebook (since you mentioned the images are still there). However, this is more of a temporary solution since you’re relying on a third-party company to not change their URLs.

Thanks for all the tips, everybody. I’m pretty computer illiterate but I’m starting to get a better understanding of the process.
-
Glad to hear your understanding is improving. Slowly but surely you will become very literate. Soon you will be teaching us things.
