Need advice on domain & servers

    Hey!

I’ve just started with the WordPress. I’m loving what it offers.
The little set back I’ve found researching over the internet (I may be wrong) is that WordPress does not manage domains and servers. This may be a deal breaker for me.

I’m looking for a one stop solution.

Can you advise the easiest solution for this?
Are there any third parties on WordPress panel offering it all in one package?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy dinolizard!
WordPress offers Hosting and Domains both, you can choose as per your convenience, a basic Personal Plan also, offers a Domain and hosting along with WordPress features, if you need advanced features, you can go for a Premium or Business plan, the plan options explain the details.
Also, if you are looking for third Party Hosting, and managing all by your self, you can choose WordPress.org
    WordPress Com vs WordPress ORG

Hope this helps, let us know for any further questions..!
    Thanks..!

    Thanks Pavan.

I’m not at all interested in managing the website all by myself. Therefore I choose WordPress.com.

I’m currently looking at the Business plan for my Stills, Motion & Design Studio with a small e-commerce section.

    A couple of questions

    1. Does the Business subscription contain Email accounts from the website?

    2. Do I get only one domain name and website in this package?

    3. On the checkout the total cost was $299, are there any hidden charges except this? Or any other costs I need to budget for? Themes perhaps…

    4. Currently, I’m planning to use a regular theme, but if I choose to use a custom designed theme, should there be any other costs or elements I need to keep in mind?

    5. Can I pay monthly or quarterly?

    Hi again @dinolizard!

    1. Does the Business subscription contain Email accounts from the website?
You can set up email for your Website in a number of ways, using Email Forwarding, Using G-Suite or a Free Email hosting which will have your domain, here is the complete document to explain further.
    Add Email

    2. Do I get only one domain name and website in this package?
Yes, the each subscription is valid for a Single Domain and Website, but if you would like to you can register new domains here look into this
    Register Domain Without Site
Also, you can buy a plan for each website if you need at a later stage.

    3. On the checkout the total cost was $299, are there any hidden charges except this? Or any other costs I need to budget for? Themes perhaps...
There are no other costs than the Subscription Plan, You can use all the themes available on WordPress.com, but if you plan to use an external theme, you will have to bear the cost of the Theme you buy from the Theme company. Also, in case of Plugins, WordPress.com doest not charge for Plugins, they will help you in setting them up, if the Plugin company has some costs for Upgrades those will be borne by the User.
IF you plan to use WooCommerece and you need any upgrade, the costs will be borne as they the Plugin company costs.

    4. Currently, I'm planning to use a regular theme, but if I choose to use a custom designed theme, should there be any other costs or elements I need to keep in mind?
As explained above, no costs from WordPress.com any theme which is compatible to WordPress can be used, you can upload it via the Appearance feature from your Dashboard. To buy the theme will be borne by user, here is the document explaining further
    Uploading Custom Theme

    5. Can I pay monthly or quarterly?
No there is no monthly or Quaterly payment system, only annual system, there is a 30-day refund policy and a 48 hour Domain refund policy. Which gives you sufficient time to test the services. Here are the details, https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/

Also, keep in mind with the Business Plan you get access to Live Chat where can get personal help for everything as a Business User.

Hope this helps, let me know for any further questions…!
    Best Wishes..! :)

  • Hi there,

It looks like @pavanraheja has you covered. Just regarding hidden costs:

If you install a third party plugin or theme there might be additional costs for those, but that’s between you and the developer for that particular plugin.

Regarding WooCommerce, the core plugin is free, but it has Premium extensions developed by both us and by other providers. No Premium extensions for WooCommerce are included in the Business Plan cost. The plan only contains the features outlined on the Pricing page, here:
