Need advice/help on changing a blog address

I’ve been blogging for about a month now, and find myself in a position where I would like to change the blog address. I’ve secured the new address, which was fortunately available, and have successfully exported posts & comments from the original blog to the new one. However, *after* I did this, I found out about the procedure for changing a blog address along with the option to purchase a site redirect – and now find myself a little stymied on how best to proceed.
If I do the “official” blog address change, if I understand correctly, the followers I’ve gained for the original blog will automatically move over to the new address – am I right? And do I guess correctly that the site stats from the “old” address would follow the “new” address – am I also right about that?
However, since I already secured and set up the “new” address (theme/appearance is exactly the same), does mean that I won’t be able to change the site address, i.e. will wordpress.com tell me that the “new” address is not available? And also, if I am able to change the blog address, and do the site redirect, would that mean I will not be able to re-use the “old” address for a different blog?
I hope I’m explaining this clearly. I’m confusing myself a bit trying to explain. The “old” address is [link removed by staff], and the “new” one is ktredshoes.wordpress.com.

Hi there, I’d be happy to help you get your blog set up the way you want it.
You can only change a blog address to an address that isn’t already taken. Since you already set up a blog at the new address that you want to use, you won’t be able to change the old blog address to that new one.
However, you can still use the Site Redirect upgrade to redirect traffic from your old blog to the new one. You can go to the Store page in your old blog’s dashboard and purchase the site redirect upgrade there. You can then redirect traffic to the new blog address you set up.
(If you want to use the old blog address to set up a different blog, though, you won’t want the site redirect upgrade. Otherwise, anyone who tries to visit the different blog at that address would just be redirected to your new blog address.)
Since you exported your posts and comments to the new blog, I can also transfer your followers and site stats to the new blog for you, if you’d like. That way, you won’t lose any of them in the move to your new address. :)

Part of the reason I thought about the site redirect upgrade is that I have Facebook posts that link to specific blog posts, and so I thought the site redirect would be appropriate to take care of those. Couldn’t I could use the site redirect for a limited time, then remove it when I’m ready to re-use the old address for another purpose?
Yes, please do transfer the followers and site stats from the old to the new address.

Yes, absolutely! :) If you do that, the site redirect will indeed take care of the links from Facebook to your blog posts, for as long as the site redirect is active.

I think I will follow through on the site redirect, but in the meantime, have edited the posts on the old blog to link to their counterparts on the new blog, so that if someone clicks on a Facebook link, they’ll get a link to go to the new blog. A little clunky, but until I get the site redirect taken care of…
Thank you for transferring my followers and stats to the new address.! Is it possible to transfer the “likes” from individual posts on the old blog to the new blog as well? Only 7 out of 15 of the posts have likes, but it would be nice to have them moved as well, if that’s possible. Thanks!

It isn’t possible to transfer Likes, but I’m sure you’ll get plenty of new Likes on the new blog. :) It looks great!

Hi. I started a blog on Blogger several months ago, and now I want to move it over to WordPress because it is growing quickly and I need to have multiple pages to categorize my various posts, as they refer to places in different cities. Can you please tell me how I would transfer my BlogSpot.com address, after I close down that site, to my new WordPress site that will be using a new domain name that I purchased? I want to redirect my existing base to the new WordPress blog when they visit there. Thank you very much!
