Need an A-Record IP-address for mapping a domain to a WordPress blog
-
I would like to map a domain to WordPress using A-Record. I have found two posts with IP addresses from WordPress but they are from 2012 and 2014. Would like updated info. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Note: WordPress.COM blogs do not have permanent IP addresses. If you use IP addresses then be aware that they change and your domain mapping will fail. https://en.support.wordpress.com/ip-addresses/

When mapping an existing domain registered with another host, the host may ask for an IP Address instead of (or in addition to) our nameservers. When possible we encourage people to add our nameservers rather than IP addresses because our IPs can change over time. If your registrar requires A records, you can contact support and we’ll provide you with a list of our current IP addresses.

Yikes! Sorry about that last comment. I meant to type it into another thread. Please ignore it.

Thank you so much timethief! Both for the tip about modlook tag and for the link to the thread that had two current IP addresses. And for the other info as well.

Timethief, fyi, in that other thread they gave two IP addresses. I have seen posts for 6 back in 2012 and 2014 so I asked if I could get four more to use as alternates if necessary. Thanks again for your help.

Hi there,
You only need to add two A-records with these IPs:
192.0.78.24
192.0.78.25
We don’t currently use any other IPs, so I don’t have any others to give you :)

It looks like the free address was still set as your site’s primary address. I’ve updated that for you. Please clear your browser cache, then the site should load at the correct address.
-
When you add mapping the new address should have been set as primary automatically, but sometimes that doesn’t happen.
We don’t recommend mapping via A-record, which is why the instructions aren’t in our support docs, but for the most part it should work just as well as using name servers.
