Need assistance with business site setup.

  • Unknown's avatar

Can someone please contact me… Have been paying 2 years for a business site and email account that has not gone live yet… It was my belief that someone from WordPress was going to contact me to assist in setting up the site. Two years have gone by and it is difficult to believe no one has had the time to get back to me to help. I’ve forwarded notes this month to support@wordpress.com and I’ve not received an acknowledgement or response. Is there a phone number I can call to inquire, or obtain someone’s email, to send the note I’ve not gotten an answer to? I do not want to plaster the details of my specific case on the general forums. Can someone, anyone, please get back to me…

This is the fourth time I’m contacting support for assistance in setting up my website. Here is the information I’ve provided in past attempts for help…

    justjennifer,

Thank you so much for responding…

The website I’d like to set-up is: sitarapharmaceuticalconsulting.com. WP registered the domain with the site purchase back in FEB18. I’d like to communicate with someone directly via notes or call so I can express the type of site my husband and I would like to see created. We do not even know how to access a G-Suite email that was also purchased the same day
((email visible only to moderators and staff)).

At the time we purchased our site with WP, no template was available to accommodate what we were looking to expand on, so we were awaiting to receive a call or note from someone at WP who could help. Eighteen months later, we are still awaiting someone to contact us.

Thank you for reaching out to try and assist. My husband and I truly appreciate it.

  • Oh wow, I’m sorry you’ve had this trouble, @apmwpny.

The main problem I’m seeing is that you’ve got more than one account. You just created this one a month ago and it has no ties on our side to the one you started two years ago. You mentioned sending emails; I don’t see those associated with this account OR the correct owner.

So our first order of business will be to help you get logged into the correct account. Then you can get in touch directly, via chat, set up your included concierge session, etc.

Are you able to log out and log back in with the username you used to buy the account, or log in using the email address that gets emails and renewal reminders? If not we’ll help you recover access.

    supernovia,

My apologies for the delayed response… I’ve been out-of-office attending meetings in NYC the past few days.

Per your response, let me start with a clarification…

I did not set-up the account in my name or my email. I set up the account for my husband, I***h T**********a, with his name and business entity by way of his Outlook account. I manage all the accounting and administrative operations of his small business. He owns an LLC business (sole proprietorship) in the state of NY under the firm name SITARA PHARMACEUTICAL CONSULTING.

I had been insisting to my husband that WP was the best firm to work with to create his business site. It took me several months to convince him (in late 2017) because he wanted to ensure there was a way we could also have the opportunity to update the site as his needs changed.

Finally, in FEB of 2018, per continued insistence on my part, he agreed. I thought I did everything right when I created the account. Went through all the motions… Even created an email for SITARA which was charged separately. Thereafter, it was my belief that someone at WP was going to get in touch with us to inquire what we would like to see in the creation of our site: sitarapharmaceuticalconsulting.com. But, as the months and seasons have gone by, my husband has lost faith that anyone will ever contact us and that perhaps it was ‘I’ who made a mistake in choosing WordPress. (I am going to be managing his site and editing it as need be. I know in my heart and mind that I did not make a mistake. I just can’t pinpoint what I did wrong, if I did anything wrong when I created the site, to not have anyone contact us back to set it up.)

I will not lie that I am disappointed that no one ever reached out. I personally do not have a WP account of my own and the only reason I am in this forum is because I have tried writing to various other WP support email addresses that have only led to silence with no response.

I do remember the domain and the email I created for SITARA in the WP site but, after 18 months, I do not have any recollection of the passwords I created (back then) to access the site or the email; so I have no way to log in. One thing my husband does receive in his Outlook account are the annual charge billings for a site and email he has never had access, use or benefit of since I created them in FEB of 2018.

Unless you can give us the necessary guidance we need to get the process started, can you please see that someone gets in touch with me with the appropriate links to create revised or new passwords to at least access the account? We also need a link to connect to the person who was to initially contact us to help us set up the site. (At the time of site purchase, there were many templates to choose from, but none had the ‘look’ or ‘feel’ of a professional in the pharmaceutical industry field. Hopefully there is one now.)

Thank you for hearing me out on this supernovia… It is unfortunate that my case and situation had to be detailed on a public forum for the world to see. It would have been my personal preference to have someone at WP contact me directly, via a private note (via email), and quietly discussed this matter towards resolution.

Once all this situation has been resolved, I also have to reach out to billing to see if there is a way to process a refund for all this time we’ve had no site or email; or perhaps we can get a credit once our site is in active use. I’ll just have to do a deep dive on this after I can get a site up and running.

I thank you infinitely for your time and attention.

Thereafter, it was my belief that someone at WP was going to get in touch with us to inquire what we would like to see in the creation of our site: sitarapharmaceuticalconsulting.com.

We are not a development agency. WordPress.com is a do-it-yourself hosting platform, where we provide you the tools to create your own site. You can reach out to support at any time if you need help with that, but we do not build your site for you.

We would have sent you several emails at the time you signed up, containing tips and links to information on the various tools we have available to let you build your site.

At the time you signed up for G Suite we sent you an email with instructions how to log in and activate that account, but it doesn’t look like anyone ever followed those instructions, as the account still shows as unactivated on our end.

We also sent several emails prior to the upgrades renewing in February, as well as a receipt after the renewal was processed. That receipt contains the transaction ID you can use on our account recovery form to verify your ownership and regain access of the correct account.

    kokkieh,

Thank you for your input. But let me ask this…

In assumption I can recover my husband’s account, what am I going to do with it? I am not a web developer and I do not have any coding or web technical experience if I am to create and/or develop the site myself.

Signing up to have a business account, per the prompts when signing up, gave me the impression that the moment I did, someone was going to reach out to ask us what we wanted to see available on the site we wanted to create during our session. Now I realize, per your response, that no one was going to get back to me to ask anything. This is misleading because we do need the help for all the background technical features to set-up the site. All I wanted to do thereafter is to edit/update the site content as new input became available via administrator access. (As an example, something similar to how LINKEDIN permits you to add, edit or delete information on your profile page.)

How much time does one have to invest in learning all the information needed to create a site? Unless there is a tutorial that can take me through the process in detail, step by step, I don’t feel comfortable doing it on my own. And, I don’t know now, but at the time I signed my husband up for the site, there wasn’t a theme that catered to an executive in the pharmaceutical field.

Recovering the account we’ve had no access to, since creating it last year, does not give me a resolution to the fact, based on all the notifications on the WP site indicating there is plenty of support for businesses, that there is none for us based on what I’m asking for. This is what your response seems to indicate. (And don’t get me started on the ‘hosting’ part of the site creation, I don’t know what that means… But I do know the person who helps me set-up the site will.)

Nonetheless, I still believe WP is the right platform. Perhaps it was I who misunderstood the site offerings, but there is no way I can do this alone and need the additional help to get the site up and running in such a way that I can edit the information posted within in the future.

Is there a division within WP that we can have our domain transferred to in order for them to help us build it? We are not asking for very much… What we are seeking, essentially, is a website that in essence contains the same info in my husband’s LINKEDIN profile. Nothing complicated or fancy.

What are my options now? I am confused (lost really) as to how to proceed.

Thank you (in advance) for any guidance you can provide to move forward.

  • Hi there,

In assumption I can recover my husband’s account, what am I going to do with it? I am not a web developer and I do not have any coding or web technical experience if I am to create and/or develop the site myself.

You don’t need any coding skills to build a website on WordPress.com. We have put together a step-by-step guide on how to create your site on our platform:

    Homepage

Signing up to have a business account, per the prompts when signing up, gave me the impression that the moment I did, someone was going to reach out to ask us what we wanted to see available on the site we wanted to create during our session.

This is not mentioned or implied anywhere in our signup flow or in the plan’s purchase page.

I still believe WP is the right platform. Perhaps it was I who misunderstood the site offerings, but there is no way I can do this alone and need the additional help to get the site up and running in such a way that I can edit the information posted within in the future.

If you find that you cannot build and maintain the site yourself, you can hire a WordPress expert to do it for you. For that, we have partnered with Upwork and you can find more information here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/upwork/

Is there a division within WP that we can have our domain transferred to in order for them to help us build it?

Before even looking at transferring your domain, you’ll need to recover access to the account that owns it. Please follow the instructions in our Account Recovery guide:

Thank you for your response. I’ve been out of town and just returned earlier today.

So back to our discussion from last week…

I’d really love to try this site creation on my own, so will look at the link provided. If I get too anxious, I’ll definitely try the upwork section of WP.

For now, I’ll just have to fight it out with the recovery link to see if I can get access to the account. Will work on this before anything else.

And my final question is the following…

Will recovering the site account also help me access the G-Suite section to look at the email created in FEB18 (purchased separately) or is there a separate link I’ll need to access in order to recover it?

    Please advise. Thank you.

  • Once you’re logged into the correct account you can open a support ticket and ask that we reset the G Suite password. Then we’ll send you a new link to log into that account.

    Got it kokkieh.

I’ll be traveling the next couple of weeks, but as soon as I get back I’ll work with the links provided to try and resuscitate the site and email accounts.

Will get back to you if any questions at that point.

Until then, thank you for your time.
