Need bare-bones theme with a lot less empty space
-
Is there a very stripped-down bare-bones theme like the one I have, Twenty Twelve, but without so much empty space everywhere? Mainly between lines, There’s nearly a half-inch between paragraphs and full inch between posts. I want everything a lot closer together.
It absolutely must not have any designs or patterns, no fonts any larger than I already have, and no bright colors.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

White As Milk would be great but it can’t handle my long blog title, so that rules it out.

You can browse themes here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and use the filters in the searchbox. For example http://en.wordpress.com/themes/filter/minimal+light/type/free/
-
Thanks but what I’m asking is whether somebody already knows of one with those properties. I already know about the themes browser.
-
It’s just as time-consuming for other people to browse the themes for you as for you to do it. And since they’re adding new themes all the time, anyone who’s already here is likely to be several themes out of date.
-
Where in God’s name did you get the idea that I was asking anyone to browse for me? That’s so ridiculous it makes my head explode.
Go back and read my post – you didn’t understand it. I said “whether somebody ALREADY KNOWS”. I don’t know how else I can explain this. If you’re going to twist that around into asking people to do time-consuming drudgery than I can’t even have this conversation.

raincoaster and I have been here answering questions for 8 years and predate almost every support Staff member even being on Staff. I believe there are over 360 free and paid themes. It’s our experience that themes selection is subjective and it’s a colossal waste of time when bloggers post a thread asking for others to suggest one for them.
You want a minimal theme.
You want a light colored theme.I provided a link that filtered minimal – light colored – free themes above http://en.wordpress.com/themes/filter/minimal+light/type/free/ Please check out those themes.
Here’s as link that filtered minimal – light colored – paid themes http://en.wordpress.com/themes/filter/minimal+light/type/premium/ Please check out those themes.
raincoaster shared her truth:
It’s just as time-consuming for other people to browse the themes for you as for you to do it. And since they’re adding new themes all the time, anyone who’s already here is likely to be several themes out of date.
Using the name of God as a banner under which to rudely abuse others who speak truth doesn’t impress. This is a peer support forum and we Volunteers choose exactly which threads to service and which to ignore. The latter drop like stones right off the front pages so you may want to read this https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-code-of-conduct?replies=1 and make an adjustment or two.

BTW you can change the appearance but not the way a theme functions if you purchase a custom design upgrade and do the required CSS editing. Editing any template is not possible as this is a multi-user blogging platform. That means all blogs wearing the same theme are using the same template which only Staff can access and edit as every edit affects every blog wearing the same theme.
See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable custom and CSS editing:

Why can you just admit you don’t have an answer to my question and not even reply in the first place? That would have save us both time and frustration. I asked if anyone already knew of a theme with those requirements. If no one did, then the normal thing to expect is that no one would reply. That would be no problem for me at all. Instead I get confrontation and answers to questions that I simply did not ask.
You can’t even grasp that I asked about a quantitative, measurable aspect of themes, namely the amount of spacing and absence. Those are not “subjective”. Your seem to be accusing me of saying “Somebody give me a theme that will appeal to my personal tastes”. If you can’t see the distinction you’re going to be continually offended.

Choosing a theme is a very subjective decision, and it’s very difficult for us to offer more suggestions than what the volunteers have already offered, which is to browse the themes at ttp://wordpress.com/themes/ . We have tried to make that page as user-friendly as possible so you can view all themes quickly or sort them by various criteria.
Having said that, I’m going to close this thread now.
