    Hi!
I cannot find the “domains” section in my wordpress dashboard. I’m trying to find the “Name Server and DNS” option to access the DNS records section.

  • Hi there,

You don’t own any domains on WordPress.com. That’s why you can’t find that option.

For which domain are you trying to change the DNS? Maybe you added it using a different username account?

Well, I’m new to all this, so you’ll have to forgive my ignorance. I was loading Yoast and during it’s install it connected me back to my google account. I had an old free wordpress web site connected to my google account, so i stopped the install of yoast so i could connect my new paid wordpress site to my google account. google asked me to verify the account with my domain. WordPress gave me these directions (https://en.support.wordpress.com/verifying-your-domain-with-google/). I made it to step 5 and I’m stuck. Does that help?

  • Okay. If you’re using Yoast your site is not with us, but instead you have a site using the self-hosted version of WordPress.

Are you speaking of ybickc.com? That site is self-hosted, meaning it’s not on our servers, and our instructions also won’t help for that site as you’re not using the same version of the software.

Your site is hosted by Bluehost.com, so if you want to verify using a DNS record, you’ll need to add that to your domain in your hosting account with them. You’ll also be able to use the other options, like a meta tag or an HTML file that Google offers, as with Bluehost you have access to your site’s files on the server and can add this info directly, rather than via your domain.

Support at Bluehost should be able to tell you which method they recommend and how to do it.
