Need help adding a private discussion forum

    I’ve seen some discussion referring to dead links and for sale domains but haven’t really seen a solution yet:
    I need to create a discussion forum. preferably private, which requires login- is this possible on a wordpress.com blog?
    thanks for your help.
    If not possible here, and you know of other platforms enabling this – I’d appreciate you suggestions.
