need help: adding icons to my nav menu
-
Hi,
I am not good at theming WP and I really dont like hacking other existing themes in a crude effort to get results I like. That said, I need some help if possible.
I am using a program to develop my theme and the theme it creates is not up to par with current theme standards. Therefore the existing add-icons addons don’t work for me.
However, if possible I would have no problem inserting an image URL into a database field alongside my menu links in the database, i.e. database: menu items -> Home link (image url to display), Blog link (image url to display, etc.
I tried adding an image URL to a field already but the image didnt display.
Any ideas on this? Thanks.

Hi there,
What is the URL of the site you need help with?
This is the support forum for sites hosted on WordPress.com.
If you have a self-hosted site via WordPress.org you can get support for the .org here: http://wordpress.org/support/
To learn about the difference between the .com and .org versions visit: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

@osmorphyus, there are things that you can do with a self-hosted WordPress site that cannot be done here at WordPress.com, unless you had the WordPress.com Business plan upgrade.
If you are building your own theme, the best place to ask for help is at the WordPress.org support forums. There are ways to do what you are wanting without having to modify the database, such as using CSS to add an image to menu items. By doing it that way, you don’t risk possibly corrupting the database, or possibly leaving a security hole. WordPress.org support will likely have some additional suggestion.
