Need help adding multiple portfolios using Illustratr theme

    Hi there,

I have been stuck on this for some time and am hoping someone can help me out. I’m trying to use two portfolios. On my homepage (Word of Tea Infusers), I would like it to only display my ‘tea infuser’ projects. I created a menu with a ‘blog’ link where I would like to display my second portfolio ‘blog’. I’ve managed to create the blog page ok but the problem is, whenever I add a new project, no matter what project tag I use, they are ALL added to the homepage. Is there a way I can filter/separate this so only my ‘tea infuser’ projects show up on the homepage? I’ve tried looking this up and following the steps provided, but for the life of me I can’t seem to figure it out or I’m not understanding it properly.

Also, is there a way I can hide the project tag text? It would be nice not to have ‘tea infuser’ and ‘blog’ underneath every project I create.

Many thanks for any help anyone can provide!

    Love the tea infusers.

Displaying only certain projects could be done by adding a page to your site called Home and then adding shortcode as described here https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/ to that page.

Then you would make that your home page by following these directions https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

The portfolio page template in Illustratr is designed to display all projects.

You’d need to use the portfolio shortcode instead of the portfolio template.

Yep, you can do that with some custom CSS.

Could you post over in the Illustratr forum at WordPress.org (for folks running WordPress on their own server, as musicdoc1 mentioned above) and I’ll be glad to explain in detail how to do that.

Hi everyone, I managed to display a certain project type on my home page as per honnbe’s steps – thank you so much!!! This has been driving me crazy and I would never have figured this out on my own.

I also managed to hide the project tag text using a shortcode. Not sure what the difference is by using shortcode or css to hide the text, as I think the result is still the same?

I still need a bit of help so I’ll head over to the wordpress.org forums. Thanks everyone!!

  • Glad you’re on your way!

I’ll close this thread now but see you in the .org forum.
