Need help changing background color on Andreas09
-
Hi, Everybody,
I’ve been trying to figure out where in the CSS I need to edit to change the background color — on the sides, under Categories, Blogroll, etc. — from the theme’s naturally fading color to a single, solid color. I’ve tried various things and even set up a dummy blog just for CSS testing/playing, but I can’t figure out where to make that change and wondered if anyone else using Andreas09 had been successful in doing so, and if so, how you did it. :)
Here’s an example of what I mean:
I’m trying to change the background color under Categories, etc., to a solid color.
Thanks so much for your time and your consideration.
Sincerely,
John

i’m feeling stupid now, because i can’t find where the gradient is added. nonetheless, this will fix/hide it:
#wrap { margin-top: 0; padding-top: 5px; background: #ccc; } -
… i can’t find where the gradient is added.
The gradient is part of the header background image (bodybg-orange.jpg) defined in the #container element.
#container { background:#f0f0f0 url(images/bodybg-orange.jpg) repeat-x; }Personally, I think that’s kinda weird… I mean, the body background should be a separate image.

yeah, i realized that after. firebug apparently decided the image was too long, and cropped it.
and yeah, that’s definitely not a best practice.

Massive thanks to both of you! I appreciate your taking the time to look into it and answer.
sunburntkamel, I did what you suggested and it worked like a charm.
Thanks again!
Very sincerely,
John

Okay, one more stupid question. Now, at the bottom of the page, between the bottom of the content box and the footer, there’s a solid gray stripe. How do I make the color of the wrap box go all the way down to the footer?
I’d be useless without this forum, and I appreciate everybody who’s a part of it. Thanks again.

there’s a div that makes the layout complete properly. add this:
.clearingdiv { background:#FFFAF0; clear:both; height:30px; width:auto; } -
Once again, sunburntkamel, you are my hero. I recognize that I’m useless at CSS and appreciative of your time and your help. Thanks again!

no problem. you should check out http://getfirebug.com
just right click on the part of your page that’s not behaving, and click “inspect element”. -
Hello again,
I have another question about this. (Imagine that. :))
Here’s the custom CSS to clear out the background and make it all white:
#wrap { margin-top:0; padding-top:5px; background:#ffffff; } .clearingdiv { background:#ffffff; clear:both; width:auto; }But when I look at this page …
http://johnbierly.wordpress.com/about/
… or a search page like this …
http://johnbierly.wordpress.com/?s=ray+liotta
… or a short post like this …
http://johnbierly.wordpress.com/2007/07/31/im-way-behind/
… the white background doesn’t extend all the way down the page; the bottom of the page still shows the theme’s default gradient-gray image background showing through.
Is there any way to CSS this in a way that makes my white background extend all the way down on every page?
Thanks again in advance; you guys are the best and I really do appreciate the patience and help.

I’m actually switching from Andreas09 to another theme. Sorry to post a question and then change my theme altogether, but I do appreciate anybody who gave the question a look. Thanks as always!
