Need help changing from 2 columns to 1n Black Letterhead

My post page is not wide enough. When I first set up my blog I know I saw a box to select either 1 column or 2 in Black Letterhead. up my. I have looked through every topic in the dashboard and under the wp icon on the left side and cannot locate this window again. Can you please direct me to the right place?

If BL had such an option, it would be in Appearance > Theme Options. But BL never had such an option: it simply doesn’t display the sidebar on the single post view.

Thank you. Do you know if I can achieve what I want with customization? (can I even ask that in this forum?)

You’re welcome.
You mean if you buy the Custom Design upgrade? Depends: you can make the whole theme wider, or you can make the single post view full width, but you cannot add a sidebar where no sidebar exists.
Why don’t you simply switch to a different theme? BL is a very old theme, designed when the average computer screen resolution was a lot lower than it is now. -
I tried looking for another theme that gave me the same or a similar look, – black background, very tailored, custom header – and nothing I tried pleased me. Also I was unable to tell just from trying a theme out whether the sidebar issue was the same. I’m open to suggestions.

Well, apart from the obvious ones (black/dark themes such as ChaoticSoul, Hero, Modularity Lite, Nishita or Piano Black) there are many themes that have alternative color schemes, including a black or dark one. You can consult this post of mine, section 2 (it doesn’t list the newest themes though):
