Need help deleting WordPress sites

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi! I would need help with deleting some old WordPress sites of mine. I was about to delete this one (the one I need help with), but it required me to write to the forums in order to do that. How should I go about the deletion progress? I have two other WP sites I need to delete, as well (will tell the exact ones later on). Thank you in advance!

    Site: https://vaski.wpcomstaging.com.
    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi there – Could you list the URLs you are wanting to delete for us please so we can research those and get a better understanding of the work you’re needing to accomplish?

Thank you for the response! We have three sites in total that need to be deleted. We migrated all three from wordpress.com to our own servers earlier this year, and now we’d like to delete the wordpress.com sites since we can’t keep an eye on them anymore. We have migrated all the subscribers and statistics that we need, and removing these sites should not affect the current sites on our own servers. The sites have been running on our own servers for a few months now, and we don’t need any data from the wordpress.com sites anymore. Everything can be deleted: users, posts, etc.

    The addresses are as follows:

    https://vsmaakuntakirjasto.wpcomstaging.com
    https://vaski.wpcomstaging.com
    https://vaskintapahtumat.wpcomstaging.com

All these should be administrated by the account I’m writing from. If you need any information, we’re happy to help you further. Thank you!

  • Thanks so much for all the details. Since these sites used to be on Business plan, we need to revert them to the state before installing the first third-party plugin/theme. That usually causes some content loss, but in your case, it wouldn’t matter. I went ahead and reverted vaski.wpcomstaging.com, so you should now be able to delete it without any issues.

As for the other two sites, they are not associated with your account. The account that owns them will need to reach out to support directly from their dashboard, or comment in this thread, and we’ll also revert those as well.

    I hope that helps :)

    Thank you for the information!

It seems like I’m unable to login to vaski.wpcomstaging, currently. I can see an error message: “Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. ”

As for the other two, there’s an error message stating: “-32300: transport error – HTTP status code was not 200”.

How should I go on about these issues? Thank you :)

Additional information: we transferred the domain names we used to have for these wordpress.com sites to our own servers, so the domains are still in use. We then asked the WP staff to migrate subscribers and statistics to our servers.

  • Hi there,

vaski.wpcomstaging has been reverted to vaski.wordpress.com, so vaski.wpcomstaging no longer exists. You should be able to delete vaski.wordpress.com now.

https://vsmaakuntakirjasto.wpcomstaging.com/ is actually owned by you but the site is disconnected from your WordPress.com account currently. I went ahead and reverted and deactivated that site for you.

vaskintapahtumat.wordpress.com is owned by another user, so we’d need for you or the owner to log into that account and we’ll take care of that for you.

    Thanks,

Thank you so much for your help! I tried to login to vaskintapahtumat.wordpress.com/wp-admin, but I still get an error message: “-32300: transport error – HTTP status code was not 200”

I could log in to my account, I just need to get the login page running.

(Un)fortunately, I have to stop working for the weekend now, and I’ll be back to take care of the rest on Monday :) Thanks for the excellent support so far, have a great weekend!

You’re seeing that error because you’re no longer a user on that site. You were removed approximately 6 months ago, which is why we need to have the request from the account who owned the site to log into their WordPress.com account and post a reply here in order for us to revert and delete that site.

    I hope that clarifies things!

    Hello everyone,

a bit late reply, but with your help, I’ve been able to remove the two sites that are owned by my account. Thank you very much! We’ll try to figure out, whose account owns vsmaakuntakirjasto, exactly, and get back to you, if needed.

    Thank you again! :)
