Need Help in copying all my content

  • Unknown's avatar

    My blog is http://bokunosekai.wordpress.com

I heard that a free domain wordpress blog is free from reblog button.

And I want to move all my content including comments to my future-new blog.

Is there any way to do it without copying it one by one? I have written 650post and it will take months to move it one by one.

I don’t want to delete my old blog because I’ll be linking each post title to the new one.

    thx

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The thing is, even with a self-hosted wordpress.ORG blog, people can still reblog your content, it is just that they have to do it by copy and paste rather than having a all-to-convenient button that takes much of the work out of it. Keep that in mind, because being self-hosted will not guarantee that people will not reblog your posts. There really isn’t anyway to completely stop that.

If you are talking about moving to a self-hosted blog using the wordpress software, then yes you can export all your content and then import it into the new self-hosted blog. See the following support document on how to do that.

Yeah I know, copy-pasting will never stop…but at least I can scolded people who steal my content.

How can I be angry at someone who reblog my content if they are allowed to do so?

Tho I’m still not 100% in my decision to move out yet. I still need few days to think. These thinking days will be used to search the best way to move out (or to stay)

Thank you for the link…I’ll check it now

I have read it…but 1 more question. After we export the content, what happened to the old blog?

Will the old blog still have the content? or will it be empty?

I still want the link to exist because I use it to do lots of challenge

the old blog stays exactly intact, infact i am at this moment exporting my blog, for my personal backup.
And as thesacredpath said, it not about the reblog feature, copy paste can be done and also there are auto bots will finds posts and splogs.

    Thank you Phoxis :)

I think I might do that for back-up too, at least for now… and then clear my head to choose between leaving or staying.

I think leaving wordpress.com at this moment is a bad decision. It is difficult to match such easy of blogging, without and administrative headache. Also if you move to private then the security and anti spams have to me maintained by you, and that might become a difficult job.

Yeah that’s what makes me not 100% sure yet.

I’m still in between…I love everything about WP except for that reblog feature.

I have to write my review about an event in my city next monday…by that day, I hope I can get my head straight. Your words will also be my consideration :)

My last post is about whether to leave or stay.

Take it from me: self-hosting is a pain in the ass. Unless you are willing to pay hundreds of dollars a year, you won’t be able to get anywhere near the kind of uptime and reliablility you have here, and in addition, no matter where you land, you will have to maintain vigilance and take lots of extra precautions to protect your blog from hackers. If the Reblog feature is your main sticking point, it makes much more sense to pay $15 a year for CSS modification and stay here.

    I concur.

Also, wait and see how the reblog feature plays out. I’ve been reblogging for over a year on several different Tumblrs, and what I have found is that people are very very willing to give credit where credit is due and to be fair and respectful to the people involved.

If YOU wish to give credit where credit is due and avoid reblogging and losing the original poster’s information, use the reblog button BUT edit the number of words to be less than 75 and add your own text above or below the block quotation. That way, if someone reblogs your reblog, the original link AND your link are included in the section quoted.

    Me too.

Reblogging feature is beginning to trouble me though my posts have not been reblogged yet. I hope this absurd feature is either disabled or made optional shortly. It’ll be too early to think about moving somewhere else.

Thank you for your thought Phoxis, SonofBruce, RainCoaster, Timethief and The Mishnish :)

You guys are one one the reason I love WP…everyone in this forum are so nice.

I’ve done a lot of thinking, with everything in here as a consideration, I decide to stay :)

@SonofBruce You are right, WP is just too easy to handle and I don’t know if I can manage all the hassle in a self hosting blog. And I’m reconsidering to upgrade CSS rather than leave my comfort zone.

@Raincoaster I always give links back to the original post, and ask permission before using other people’s content because I know how it feels being copied without permission.

@TheMishnish I hope so too, I hope WP will rethink about that reblog feature and give us a win-win solution
