Need help migrating to wordpress.com

    We have a self-hosted site somewhere. We’d like you to host the site for us. For complicated reasons, we only have zip files of the site directory and database. Can you help us migrate our site?

    Hi there,

    The only type of file that can be imported to WordPress.com are content backups in the form of a .XML file. Ideally, the site should also still be online, otherwise media files will not be imported. There is no way to import database files directly to WordPress.com.

    The only solution is to create a new self-hosted site and upload the files there. Then you can create an export file from that site’s dashboard.

    Can you let me know exactly what files you have (their extensions, unzipped), as well as the file sizes?
