need help on a comment that contains pornography

  hi. i recently recieved a comment that when clicked on on my comment side bar brings up a page of pornography. i attempted to delete the comment in my comment manager and it is still there on the side bar though it has been deleted under the post it was written under. is there anyone who can help me? how do i remove this comment icon and the porno that pops up when you click on it. thanks! mary

  The sidebars and widgets are cached and it will take a little bit for it to disappear from the listing in the sidebar.

  tks thesacredpath. do i have to worry about this particular perpetrator trying to use the comment area on my blog as a hosting site for this smut though?

  Yes. In almost all of these cases, it’s a spammer trying to get people to click to his page. If you mark the comment as Spam before hitting Delete, it both deletes it and teaches Akismet that it’s spam, so that it can put the next comment from that person directly into the Spam file. Just keep an eye out for future posts by this person and mark them as Spam.

  thanks raincoaster. phew. glad to know nothing serious. sacredpath i just added a couple of comments and it cached down enough so where it dissapeared. tks again for the help all. the address left on the comments was from somewhere in russia a .ru address. the akismet caught another one of the .ru addresses trying to come through. it didn’t catch the second one though. i’ll make sure i am more careful next time!

  Alternately you can just temporarily reduce the number of comments show in the recent comments widget (unless of course it is the first or second on the list). You can also temporarily remove the recent comment widget from your sidebar until the offending comment is actually gone.

  thats a good idea too sacred. luckily this comment was all the way at the bottom of the list so it was the first one to go when i made a comment,
