Need help recovering edits to a post which WordPress did not save.

    WordPress did not save the edits to a post when I manually saved them. Autosave was not working for hours, even though it was supposed to save every two minutes. I have lost a few hours work on a post and would like to have it recovered, but the changes were not saved.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    This happens a lot, unfortunately, and it’s an error particularly associated with the New Post button on the grey admin bar, so never, ever use that.

    I’m afraid if it’s not in Post Revisions and you cannot back-arrow to the Write Post page, you may have indeed lost that post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/

    I use the Post section in the Dashboard – the Auto-Save seems to work there – BUT – I don’t trust the auto-save and click on the save draft from time to time – even when auto-save is working a couple of times I got real confused when trying to sort out which auto-save had good stuff in it – – – so I save things myself before leaving the computer even for a cup of tea

    You can also subscribe to your own posts. Sometimes they go out on the RSS feed and emails in full while in the blog itself they are gone.

    HI there,

    I’m so sorry to hear that; however, as our volunteers have mentioned unless the edits were saved in the Post Revisions it wouldn’t be possible to get them back.

    As a safety precaution please press save as often as possible.
