Need help renewing my domain name – Happiness engineers seem inaccessible. WHY?

When I follow instructions from my renewal email and the support pages I hit a dead end. There is no option to renew. I need help. I resent being forced into the forums when I have been a paying customer for years. There should be an option to submit a question to Support.

re: renewing upgrades
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, renew or cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login under the correct username account.
If you do not succeed Staff need the relevant details.
1. What is the domain URL? Do you want to use the domain URL on another site?
2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?
3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
4. When was the upgrade purchased?I resent being forced into the forums when I have been a paying customer for years. There should be an option to submit a question to Support.
That’s interesting. When I need support I know I can get answers faster by posting here to the support forums because I’ve been here for over 10 years.
