Need help to delete sites that no longer exists!
-
Hi there! There are two sites linked to my WP account (olhodocao.com/clean-essence and olhodocao.com/sentipensar) which no longer exist. They were staging sites that I have removed from my server. I have tried everything I can think of, including the suggestions from Jetpack, but I am still being redirected to a 404 page.
- Alternatively, you can go directly to the following link (add your site URL at the end):
https://wordpress.com/settings/manage-connection/YOURSITEURL. - Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Disconnect from WordPress.com.
Can someone help me please? Thank you.

Since the staging sites have been removed from your server, your WordPress.com dashboard is trying to connect to a “ghost” site that doesn’t exist, which is why the standard “Manage Connection” link is triggering a 404 error. To bypass this loop and force-remove those defunct sites, you should use the hidden “My Blogs” admin page, which acts as a master list for every site ever connected to your account. Visit https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs while logged in; this page allows you to see all your connected URLs and often provides a direct “Remove” or “Disconnect” option that doesn’t require the staging site to be active. If the sites are still stuck there, your last resort is to use the Jetpack Support Contact Form to request a manual disconnection; tell them the staging sites have been deleted from the server and the standard dashboard links are 404ing, and a “Happiness Engineer” can purge the records from the Jetpack database for you.

Hi @james3265166! Thanks for replying. I tried what you suggested, but unfortunately it didn’t work. I just don’t have a ‘Remove’ or ‘Disconnect’ option. However, I did take your other suggestion and fill out a Jetpack Support Contact Form. Thank you, and have a great week!

The sites have been deleted. I’m guessing it was done by a ‘Happiness Engineer’ from Jetpack.

Hi there! I can see that the lingering Jetpack connections on the sites you mentioned have been removed, and one of my colleagues from the Jetpack team has already followed up via email to let you know.
I’m going to close this thread for now, but please don’t hesitate to start a new one if you have any other questions!
