Need help transferring subscribers to jetpack

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to use the jetpack subscription form so I was trying to connect it to the blog page but at least a year ago I connected the blog Monday Morning Music Ministry to a temporary domain name (welcomehomeministries.net) at that time. There is a new website at that address without a blog. I can not disconnect the MMMM blog from that domain name. I did not see any other way to get rid of it.
I believe I need to connect mondayministry.com to the wordpress.com to be able to use the jetpack subscribe form. I need to transfer all the subscribers to the wordpress.com and I was trying to following the instructions given on the website, but I am stuck.
I would love to have some help, thanks.

At this time you can’t delete self hosted sites from your account but Staff can. In the future you will be able to delete them yourself. Provided you post the URLs of self hosted blogs you want deleted from your account into a forum thread like this one, Staff can do this for you. Please do that now as I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

  • Hey there!

I took a look at both domains but was not able find a WordPress.org installation on them. Were you planning to use “mondayministry.com” on a future WordPress.com or WordPress.org blog of yours? If you can describe to me what your plans are I would be able to assist you more capably. Thanks!

    Drusome,
Maybe I am misunderstanding but I thought I could use the email widget on a self hosted blog (ISP is Hostmonster.com.) I have been using subscribe2 but for the last two weeks it has not been working.
There are alot of references to the problem with subscribe2 but most of them are as far back as 2 years. I believe there is a conflict with the latest versions of WP and subscribe2.
I temporarily moved mondayministry.com to welcomehomeministries.net because of another issue about a year ago. When I got the issue resolved I moved the blog back to mondayministry.com (we did the move through dns.) Now there is another website on welcomehomeministries.net but does not have a blog.
    Do you need more info?
    Thanks for your help.
    Norm

  • Hi there,

I do see that this is an issue with a WordPress.org blog and it would be very difficult for me to provide assistance outside the realm of WordPress.com. You might want to post your issues over at the WordPress.org support forums found here or forward your questions to Hostmonster’s support team. Really sorry about this inconvenience. Thank you!

    drusome,
The support team at hostmonster could not provide any useful info.
timethief stated earlier in the post that I can not delete a self hosted site from my wordpress.com account but that a staff person can delete entry on my account. I will be able to do this at a later time.
Can I or can I not use the ‘subscribe to blog’ that is in jetpack for a site hosted elsewhere?

  • Hey Norm!

Ok, I went ahead and deleted the old blog at “www.welcomehomeministries.net/blog”. Can you retry connecting “mondayministry.com/blog” to your WordPress.com account? Once that is done, I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to get the Jetpack Subscriptions feature working.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

    Andrew D.
