Need help updating Word Press – issues with plug ins

I’m trying to update our Agency WordPress blog but based on all the advice I could find on forums the necessary buttons are not on my Dashbord. (I.e. to install JetPack it says to click on “PlugIns” and then “Add New” — there is no “PlugIns” button on the left hand side of my dashboard).

Mainly, I was hoping to install Digg Digg but every time I try to download a plug in nothing happens.

I just want to make sure that our blog is fully up to date, not sure if I’ve accidentally deleted files that should be on the computer. I need help please; unfortunately, I’m not very tech savvy!

    Thank you all!

Stop reading tutorials that don’t apply to your site. ONLY things that are specific to WordPress.COM apply. Most of the stuff you find on Google is talking about WordPress.ORG.

You cannot add plugins. You do not have to update themes, plugins, or software here. Wp.com is a turnkey blogging solution.

I have no idea what Digg Digg is. Explain it. Then maybe we can find a non-plugin workaround.

    Raincoaster,
Actually after researching more I realized what you explained – no plug ins for WordPress.com. Mostly, as I realized with other forums I was getting caught up and confused with what’s available for WordPress.COM versus WordPress.ORG

Now that I understand that all is good – thanks for your feedback!

As for Digg Digg, I came across it during my online search – it’s supposed to be a plug in that allows you to add “sharing” buttons for other social media outlets to each blog post. I was hoping to get that set up for ours – do you know if there is a similar non-plug in alternative to make that work on WordPress.com?

If not, not an issue either – looking forward to your advice!

    Best.

Social sharing for things like FacePlant & twitter is built in here –

Try Dashboard >> Settings >> sharing

I also have a WordPress.com blog and have been trying to figure out how to install http://en.pdf24.org/. I was told to search for pdf24 in my Control Panel > Plugins > Add New, but I think the person who told me that only works with WordPress.org.

Am I correct? Or is it possible to add this plug-in to my account?

    Thanks!
