need help verifying site with google,

    Hi, I lose my listings with google. I am trying to verify my site with Google to see what is wrong. I reset all my settings on my wordpress theme last night, and had to redo the header and front page, etc. Anyway, I cannot verify my site. Google’s webmaster tools has given me some code to add to my website so I can check things out. First I need to verify. They can’t find me right now. So, they say to:

    Copy the meta tag below, and paste it into your site’s home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section.
    <meta name=”verify-v1″ content=”fMTHMyzXXfz1lXnEFmM1Ca6B5g6APByAfY49OJsinKA=” />
    Show me an example
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta name=”verify-v1″ content=”fMTHMyzXXfz1lXnEFmM1Ca6B5g6APByAfY49OJsinKA=” />
    <title> My title </title>
    </head>
    <body>
    page contents
    </body>
    </html>

    I can’t figure out where to do this. Please help!

    Second problem-which may be related to the first. My front page (home page) doesn’t show any perma-link now-so when I type in the complete url I only see my website header and nav bar-no article page. When I look at the address bar I see the website name.com but not the/article-page-title -that needs to be there for the article to get found and displayed. If I take the article off the front page the perma-link comes back and the full url for that page works as normal. The new front page loses its perma link. I wonder if this has something to do with Google not finding my site. All the internal links and links from articles on Ezine etc. still work normally. But I really need to get back on Googles listings. HELP!

    Thanks, Mike
