need help with a blog theme

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello. I noticed on this blog, I don’t see a section for archived posts so I can go back and view old posts and I’m wondering if this is a result of the theme I’m using which is the 2012 theme? On my other blog called theblindflight, i have dusk to dawn as the theme and I can go back and read earlier posts and I’d like the rp blog to have the same functionality. I forgot the url for the admin part of the site, I thought it was admin.reluctantparent.wordpress.com but that didn’t work. thanks for your help if possible.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello,
If both blogs are under the same account you can access them by selecting My Sites, then clicking “Switch Sites” and choosing which blog you want to edit. Another way to reach the reluctantparent admin page is via this direct link: https://reluctantparent.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

To add an archives section, use a widget. After selecting the blog you wish to update, go to Customize > Widgets. Click Main Sidebar, then the “Add a Widget” button. From the options, click Archives. Make any changes you want to the title and display options. Click the “Save & Publish” button when you’re done.

Here’s more info about widgets: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/

Thanks for the info. One question however. I don’t remember having to add a wigit to the blind flight blog so was the archives feature a part of the dawn to dusk theme where it’s not with the 2012 theme?

    Thanks for the clarification.

    Yes, that’s correct.

Hi there. I’m still having an issue with the archives for this blog.

I added the wigit so now it shows monthly archives but for June for instance, it only shows 7 posts and the same number for the previous month of May. Is there a way to change it so that it shows everything for a given month? When I clicked on the wigit, I didn’t see a way to customize it.

    Thanks for the help again.

    Hello,
I see you have infinite scroll active. When I viewed your May archives page, and started scrolling down, more posts were loaded automatically. I counted about 28 posts in total. For June there were about 35.

I tested it in Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Firefox on a desktop PC. The problem may be with your browser or security settings. If JavaScript is blocked or disabled, you’ll only see a limited number of posts.

oh wow, thanks for the info. I’ll check that out. do believe javascript is disabled in internet explorer and I did have some problems with that browser recently that required me downgrading and then trying to upgrade again.

    Thank you for the info.

    Hello.

I have a question about tags.

I use email to send all my posts to my blog so was wondering if there’s a way to do tags in the body of the email or do I have to go to my dashboard to do the tagging? I wasn’t sure if there was some html code I could insert while I’m writing the email?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hello,
Yes, you can include tags in your email. Instead of html, the feature uses something called a shortcode. It looks like this: [tags parenting, vacations, hiking]

Here’s a helpful guide all about posting by email: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/

    Hello.

On my blindflight blog, I have the dawn to dusk theme and I can’t rememver if I asked this already but is there a way for me to use that same theme for reluctantparent? I didn’t see it in the list of themes but I’m assuming that it’s still available. Thanks for the help.

    Hello.

there is a user following my blind flight blog that I would like to block from following me if possible.

Also, I thought you might want to be aware that this person has a blog on wordpress where he is quite offensive and is even violating legal precedent by admitting to unlawfully posting internet content to his own personal mixcloud page, an activity which I’m sure would fall outside of the range of intended use for the blogging service which you provide.

Now, I am all for freedom of speech and the like and it’s one of the things that makes the internet such a great and marvelous place, but as he has freedom of speech rights, I also have the right to be respected and not have my content reposted without my consent.

I understand that the mixcloud issue isn’t something that you can directly do anything about but I thought you’d want to know about his blog and the illicit activity that is going on in case it may be grounds for removal of said blog based on the aforementioned activities.

    His blog address is https://whatiseeiwordpressabout.wordpress.com/

Thank you kindly for your attention regarding this matter.
