Need help with admin on blog

  • Unknown's avatar

I was trying to downgrade my WordPress but locked myself out as admin. Need help!

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Unknown
    Correct account: Unknown

  • I don’t see any WordPress.com sites under your account here.

What is the URL of the site with the problem?

NOTE: We can only assist with websites hosted here at WordPress.com. If you’re using the WordPress software, but hosted elsewhere, you will need to reach out to your hosting provider or the WordPress.org community for guidance: https://wordpress.org/support/

Thanks for that. Neither site is hosted with us here at WordPress.com, so there’s not much we can do here. But I can get you pointed in the right direction.

If you’re not able to log in, you will need to reach out to your hosting provider for help. However, each site appears to have a different hosting provider based on publicly available information:

    janbrehm.com is hosted with WebHostingPad

    planetsweetpea.com is hosted with HostGator

You would need to reach out to each host for each site for help in regaining your access to each site.

If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

    Hope that helps!

Thank you for your response. If I don’t have a WordPress account, I’m not sure why I am getting e-mails from them about automatic updates to my account:

“From: WordPress <(email visible only to moderators and staff)>
Date: August 28, 2021 at 12:05:30 PM PDT
To: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Subject: [I.Jan] Your Site is Experiencing a Technical Issue

    Howdy!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, BackupBuddy.

First, visit your website (http://www.planetsweetpea.com/blog/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (http://www.planetsweetpea.com/blog/blog/wp-admin/admin.php?page=pb_backupbuddy_backup) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    http://www.planetsweetpea.com/blog/wp-login.php?action=enter_recovery_mode&rm_token=YzfToJbwO6w6UaAblPoQmb&rm_key=3w9gRHtzXWUfJkRU32gWsz

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.8
    Current theme: Thesis (version 1.8.4)
    Current plugin: BackupBuddy (version 3.1.8.1)
    PHP version 7.4.22″

I also get notices from WordPress about automatic updates to my account.

Those From: WordPress <(email visible only to moderators and staff)> emails are generated from your WordPress install – which is why it uses your domain and not @wordpress.org or @wordpress.com. As such, those emails are not from us.

The WordPress software you’re using on your site is the source of those emails and are designed to let you (the site Administrator) know that there’s a problem with your installation.

    Hope that clarifies things.
