Need help with catagories and tags.How do you reach more readers?

I’m very new to blogging (literally just started last night). I’m a writer hoping to showcase some of my work and drive readers to find my upcoming books on kindle. How do you reach more readers/subscribers for your blog? I’m looking to use the blog as a marketing tool and have read a bunch of tutorials and am more confused than ever.

1. Structure a reader and search engine blog;
2. In blogging content is king create unique, high quality content so publish fresh content frequently;

It’s Google that sends a signficant flow of traffic to blogs and search spiders are focused on the keywords in your content not your categories/tags. You will gain some insight when you read and watch these:

These questions are in response to time thief however anyone with insight is welcomed to answer:
1.How specifically do you increase you SEO?
2. how do u structure a reader/search engine blog?
3. Anchor text? can you explain?
4. supporting other similar posts on you page won’t entourage readers to leave you blog for theirs esp if theres is more “advance?”
5. what do you consider to be authoritative posts.
6. I see a link on my page under Meta that says Entries RSS
Comments RSS. is this what your referring to?
7. when is it worth buying your own domain?
8. I tried verifying my blog via google however it said :Copy the meta tag below, and paste it into your site’s home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section. However I don’t have anything like this on my blog…And suggestions?

1 is a question that people pay thousands to learn. You can, instead, just do a search of the forums, where that question has been answered hundreds of times.

lol thanks ps after much trial and error it tool me about 30 just not to finally figure out how to verify on google an bing but i got it! yay me! if anyone can answer any of the other questions that would be great.
also one more thing. I just started my blog 3 months ago. Last week I got 1000 hits in under 48 hrs. The button on my page labeled “Get ‘Blog Name’ Now” Says Click to follow Sash and receive notifications of new posts by email. Join 2,293 other followers…Well i have a hard time believing I have that many subscribers. is that the actually number of people who have hit that link or what does that number represent?
