Need help with changing menu

    Hi, I tried starting a foodblog but I´m really confused by how less I can change sth in a theme. I wanted a menu that says something like “about me”, “recipes”, “food to go”….
    But all there is is contact or about und I can´t change anything about it but the name.. Content stays the same. So is this how wordpress works? You have to have the effing contact and about and you´re not at all flexible with what kind of content you put? I´m new to this, I hope someone can help me here and I really hope anyone gets what exactly my problem is ;)
