Need Help With Creating a Contact Form on Blog!
-
I followed the link in the site on how to create a contact form and it doesn’t work for me because when I get into the add blog post, there’s no Add Contact Form function as showed on the tutorial. Do I need to upgrade? Although I paid for my domain, the site right now is still free.
Also, I’m interested in possibly adding a pop-up sign up form. Again, how do I do this? And do I need to upgrade? Thanks so much!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We cannot create pop-ups on wordpress.com hosted blogs and there is no upgrade that changes that. We have code restrictions https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
Are you referring to this guide for the only form code we can post on wordpress.com hosted blogs?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/Also know that the only relevant wordpress.COM blogging tutorial is here http://learn.wordpress.com and the only relevant support docs are here hottp://support.wordpress.com

Please also see here for the follow blog widget https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/

Yes, absolutely. I was referring to this link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
When I follow these steps, it doesn’t work for me because when I go into “Add New Post”-I NEVER get “Add Contact Form”–only “Add Media.” This made me feel I needed to upgrade to get the “Add Contact Form” feature.

It sounds like you are using the Beep Beep Boop editor and that needs to be reported to Staff. When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads like I just did for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Okay–I’m subscribed to this thread so I should just wait for the moderator to offer me help with this issue then? Thank you by the way–you zeroed in on the problem–Beep Beep Boop editor–which I would have never known about.

Hi @idorbian, we’re working on the best way to add these back in. For now, though, the easiest method is to just paste in the shortcode mentioned here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/#shortcode-reference[contact-form]
[contact-field label="Name" type="name" required="true" /]
[contact-field label="Email" type="email" required="true" /]
[contact-field label="Website" type="url" /]
[contact-field label="Comment" type="textarea" required="true" /]
[/contact-form]
If you need more help or want to add different fields, let us know. We’ll help. Cheers!

Excellent! So I create the Contact page and then paste that code in? Thanks so much for your help.
-
Yup, make a new contact page, paste that code, and let us know if you need help adding more form fields :)

I just created the contact form page. Thanks. But unfortunately, in addition to being a regular page on my blog, it’s also a blog post. How do I remember the blog post while retaining the contact form as a separate page on my site?
-
This is what you can do:
- Create a static page https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
- Use a contact form shortcode on it https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/#how-to-add-a-contact-form-with-shortcodes
- Create a custom menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#1-create-a-custom-menu
- Add the contact page into the custom menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-pages
-
P.S. You can add the post into the custom menu rather than creating a static page if you wish. In that case use this – adding custom links https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-custom-links instead.
-
I want to create a static page for my contact form page; unfortunately, I don’t have any “creating a static page” functions on my site as seen in your link.

Did you use this guide? https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
Try this instead:
Go to > Dashboard > Pages > Add New

Okay. I did it. It’s listed under the menu option. But how do I make the Menu option prominent–or rather something that readers can see and click. Right now, the contact form is listed under the menu and without the menu being listed prominently on the site, no one will have a clue about putting their information onto the contact form (because they can’t find it).
Thanks so much.

Your theme makes the menu and widget area less prominent actually, so there’s more of a focus on content.
If you like the header image from Eighties but want to use it on a different theme with a more obvious menu, you can. What about this one?
