WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ The video guides are for WordPress.ORG installs and not for WordPress.COM blogs like yours. Don’t watch them because they will just confuse you.
See here for how to setup the theme you are using
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/edin/ and scroll down to “Front Page Template”
See here for the live demo site
http://edindemo.wordpress.com/You may want to create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into it. Then every post you assign the categories to will appear under the relevant category page after the post is published.

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.

A blog is a website. First, you register a blog. Then you can change the structure if you want to.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

your awesome! I wish I came here sooner. I made the blog because of high demand but I know nothing of CSS, RSS, I looked them up already but this is a bit overwelming. are there a series of videos that wordpress has for the .com side to help people like me or is very common for bloggers to know this information before starting?
