Need help with domain mapping upgrade
-
I purchased the domain mapping upgrade to use my domain — annarbordisciples.org. The dns name servers have been changed to ns1.wordpress.com and ns2.wordpress.com. The domain annarbordisciples.org does redirect to mccaa.wordpress.com, but the url address doesn’t use the domain name. Is this the way it’s supposed to work? Users trying to access my church’s website will enter “annarbordisciples.org” but once they reached our wordpress website it’s confusing to see the wordpress address instead. –J.C.

This thread has been flagged for Staff assistance. It appears that you may not have set the primary domain correctly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#setting-the-primary-domain
-
When I select the radio button beside the domain; set the domain as primary, and then click the “Update Primary Domain” button at the bottom of the list to save the change — the domain tries to redirect the domain to the wordpress.com website and remains in a state of “redirecting.” It never reaches the wordpress.com website.

You name servers seem to be pointing to
dns2.provide.net.
dns1.provide.net
Not WordPress.COM -

Morning TT – they seem to have mapping but the name servers are not here – might also be something else but the name servers are a good place to start – then if the name servers will not point here then the staff needs to help –

Here is a picture of the form showing the DNS server settings at provide.net for annarbordisciples.org. My system administrator contacted the tech support team at provide.net — supposedly, this is all he needs to do. Is the dns name server case sensitive — that’s the only difference I see. The sys admin tried to rename the dns name servers using all upper case characters too. Still doesn’t work. See the link at: http://mccaa.wordpress.com/1637-2/dns-name-server/

Sometimes a zone record needs to be added to allow the name servers to point here – normally a .ORG domain should map but it might have something to do with the registrar – the staff would need to add the zone record and they can also sort out any other problems – I see the staff is backed up with service requests in the forum (6 pages) – this thread was marked for the staff to help
-
I have manually added a zone record for your domain.
You should now be able to map it here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

I’.m sorry, but I’ve updated the primary domain and the dns name servers are still pointing to dns1.provide.net dns2.provide.2 instead of ns1.wordpress.com & ns2.wordpress.com. When I try to access the wordpress website using annarbordisciples.org is get hung up “redirecting” to mccaa.wordpress.com.

You’ll need to contact your registrar about this, as we do not have control over their systems.
-
I have contacted the registrar site. I sent a copy of a jpg showing the change to the dns name servers that was made on their end to the support team at wordpress.com. I’m assuming that the your domain mapping upgrade isn’t going to work for the registrar site I’m using.
-
It will work, but they have no yet updated your nameservers. You’ll need to find out why that is.
You can track your nameserver change as it propagates via http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/annarbordisciples.org
Per the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ your nameservers need to be:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM NS2.WORDPRESS.COM NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
