Need help with finding the Mckinley image slider as seen on demo page
-
How do you get the image slider – images on top of the page with little circles underneath it (as seen in demo) on Mckinley page. I can’t figure it out-I want my images to show like they have it on the demo page. I’ve seen earlier posts on this topic and have tried everything and nothing worked. I just want to know if its still an option, if not, wordpress needs update that demo for Mckinley page because that’s false advertisement.

Hey @candaceworthen!
It seems like you have your front page set to display just an image instead of a slideshow. I believe that if you set your page to show a slideshow it will have the “little circles” underneath it. You might even have it set to a “Featured Image”.
Check out this page about the McKinley theme and read the section titled “Slideshow Galleries”.

I hope this fixes you up!

Thanks for your response. I tried with the “Feature Image” and it only sets one image at a time and there’s no option for a gallery. I also tried to insert a gallery in a post and all I get are these options – https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/
but none of them replicate the gallery seen on the Mckinley “demo page” I did read the article you provided and again the slideshow galleries provided do not mirror the same gallery used on the demo page. Thanks again for your response but I think wordpress got rid of that gallery or functions for it because shouldn’t be this difficult to find. -

It indeed is not the Featured Image that you see at the top of the demo site, but a Gallery. In order to get that slideshow with the dots going, you have to publish your post using the Gallery Post Format.
From the Theme’s Showcase Page:
McKinley takes your galleries to the next level, showcasing your images in responsive, full-page width slideshows. You don’t have to do anything to get these working; just create a gallery in a post and set the post format to “Gallery” and this theme does the hard work for you.
Let us know how that goes.

Thank you for your response. I saw this in the article that Jsase5 shared and couldn’t find where you would set the post format to “gallery”. I added a gallery in post and only option I get is to change the type of gallery which are these options (thumbnail grid, titled mosaic, square titles, circles, slideshow). I search every setting on my wp admin page and could not find where to set post format to “gallery.” Do you know specifically how I would do this on my wp page. If you can find step-by-step instructions, I would really appreciate it. Again, I’ve tried adding a gallery in a post and the only setting I get is to change the type of gallery and none of the types provided mirror the slideshow on the demo page. Thank you again for your response, I really appreciate you guys taking time out of your day to reply.

The Post Format actually relates to the Post you are publishing and not the Gallery feature.
When in your website’s Classic Dashboard‘s Post Editor, you should see a Module called Format, which is normally found on the righthand, lower side of the screen. There you can choose from a number of post formats (Standard, Audio, Gallery, Image, Link, Quote, Status, Video) that change the display of posts on your homepage. If you don’t see that Format Module, click on the Screen Options tab in the upper right corner of your browser window and make sure it is enabled. Here’s more about editing Post Formats https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-formats/#editing-post-formats
In order for the special McKinley slideshow to work, you have to publish your Post using not only a gallery, but also the Gallery Post Format. Keep in mind your image sizes as results may vary.
Hope that helps.
