Need help with graphics

I have inserted artwork into my word document before posting. However, the artwork does not appear in the post. Is there a simple way to make that happen?

No. Your computer is not a server and Microsoft WORD is not web compliant. It’s a word processing program only.
You must upload the graphics into your blog so they are hosted on WordPress.com servers. These are the accepted file types:
.jpg/.jpeg
.gif
.png
