need help with Header image in Bouquet

  • Unknown's avatar

The Header image in Bouquet is 1100 X 180. It cannot be adjusted. I am having a hard time fitting an image in that narrow. I have a subject I want to fit in the narrow area. Any advice on how to do this?
I have been resizing my photo with no luck. His head will not fit in the narrow 180 height.
Also, can anyone give me ideas on how to protect my photos in the posts from being copied and used?

    Hi,

Some themes just aren’t designed for large header images. I can sympathize, because the theme I’ve used for several years has a similar limitation. It might be possible to increase the size of the header with Custom CSS, if you’d consider going that route, but otherwise there is no means of expanding the height of the site header in Bouquet.

If you’re adamant about including that beautiful head near the top of your site, and do not want to switch to a more suitable theme, then I’d suggest adding a cropped version of the image near the top of the sidebar widget, in either an Image Widget or a Text Widget.

I’ll leave this one to others with the necessary knowledge in that area. You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.

    Correction:

Thank you. I was thinking of taking another picture with his face farther away so it comes out smaller in the picture so it will fit.
I have tried cropping the picture and resizing it but it either comes out with too poor a resolution because I made the picture too small or I crop it all I want and his head still doesn’t fit.
I also have a logo I made for it so maybe putting in the side bar will work.
    Thanks. I’ll try that.

  • HI @naturalobservations,

That’s what I’d recommend as well.

An alternative would be to use an image editing program to shrink your image and layer it on top of a background that matches the header area dimensions. That may not be ideal though, so re-taking a few photos from different distances may work out better.

There isn’t a way to keep images from being downloaded, but we do have some recommendations on how to protect your images as well as other content on your site.

Thank you dcoleonline, I’ll check the link out.. I thought of putting a copyright in the lower corner but that could be cropped.

  • I’d suggest you check out the post on watermarking images linked from item #7 in the article David recommended:

There’s a lot of good information there. :)
