Need help with importing blog

    Hi there,

    I’m trying to import a Tumblr blog into WordPress. I had some problems with the WordPress’s Tumblr importer last night (nothing appeared to have been importing despite waiting for a couple of hours), so I decided to clear the import and start over. But when I try to import the blog again, it says that there is still one import going on. I tried importing again today, but the same message still appears. I also tried disconnecting from Tumblr and reconnecting, but no dice. I’m not sure what’s happening, I would appreciate with assistance in the matter. (As you might be aware, Tumblr’s been clumsy as of late and I’m trying to get my blog up and running on WordPress before the December 17 deadline in fear of the Tumblr blog being falsely flagged and potentially lost).

    Not a mod, but what I have seen is that there’s a big queue running from Tumblr and a bit of a backlog. That’s been causing the import message for a lot of us, could be that your import is still running and that’s why that error is there. Hopefully a staff member can be along and check your blog in a little bit, seems to me that they’ve been run a little ragged, but I figured I’d relay what the is situation as best I can to help any worry you may have.

    Hi there!

    I’ve double checked to confirm your import is indeed still running. It didn’t cancel and is not stalled either.

    We’re processing quite a few imports from Tumblr at the moment, which is causing a backlog of imports in our system. While it may look like your import failed, it’s just in line for processing, and luckily it’s still in the queue. Please allow this to run for the next 24 hours, and if it hasn’t completed by then, update us here.

    Thanks for the replies! I decided to give it about 48 hours, and the import finally happened. I guess there must be a very large backlog going (probably largely in part to what’s going on at Tumblr!).

    The only thing that didn’t import were the site pages (unless there’s something about the Tumblr import that doesn’t allow for importing site pages? Not that it’s a huge matter since I can re-create the pages easily, but just curious).

    Pages should also import as far as I know. If you want you can try running the import a second time, but it might again take a while, so if you’re willing to recreate the pages manually on this end that might be easiest :)
