Need help with MX records

  Hoping someone can help me properly set the custom DNS to fix our email servers. I am not fluent in code, so some of this is baffling me.

  My host told me to create an MX record as a nameserver, then to point the nameserver to our IP address. What does this look like?

  Here’s what I tried and it *might* be working – we are able to receive email on our phones, but not in Outlook yet (no idea why!).

  MX 1 192.89.92.156.
  MX 1 mx.domainname.com.

  That’s not the real IP address or domain name, but I wanted to show exactly what’s listed.

  Am I on the right track? Am I missing a step?
