Need Help with my Website Concept
-
Hi, I am designing a website for a real estate agent. I want a landing page with a background that takes up one whole screen. I may have content below that later. For now, I just want a title and two button on that screen. Both the ‘I want to buy’ and the ‘I want to sell’ screens should have a heading with the their own separate titles, and a sidebar that can collapse into a hamburger menu. I do not see any templates that allow me to go from a landing page with no sidebar, to two different websites that each have their own different sidebars. Can you assist me in creating this?
The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff).

Hi there,
For the main site, you can use one of our Recommended Themes from https://wordpress.com/themes that do not show a sidebar on the homepage. Using a Cover block with the Buttons block inside of it, you can have a large background image that goes full-width, and two buttons leading to two different sites on top of it.
Then, you can create two different websites and add links to those sites using the buttons in the buttons block.
Let me know if that doesn’t make sense and I’ll be happy to clarify further.

Hi. Thank you for the reply. So the only (or at least best way) to do this seems to be to make three separate websites total. I assume that it would not be possible to have this website be a SPA then and would result in somewhat longer loading times.
However, I also assume that I can still keep the same domain name for all my sites? So myrealtyurl.com will be the landing page with the two buttons, then myrealty.com/seller and myrealty.com/buyer will each go to each of the other two websites I create. Is that correct?

Thanks. So if I have three separate wordpress websites can I still have them all under one domain name? I assume I can do this either through WP directly or Namecheap or some other service.
1. landing – realtyurl.com
2. buying – realtyurl.com/buy
3. selling – realtyurl.com/sell -
The URL structure you are listing here is not for separate sites, but for separate pages on a single site.
i.e. if you were to set up a 3 page site on WordPress.com with a homepage, a page called “buy” and a page called “sell” they would have those URLs. No additional sites needed, it would all be under one site.
I should add however that on WordPress.com we do not have built in functionality for realtors, such as property search, the ability to pull property listings from the MLS/IDX service, etc. These are specialized functionality that is added to the site via a “plugin” typically.
You can see here for example there are many 3rd party plugins (created by outside companies to “work on WordPress” that add the ability to display property listings: https://wordpress.com/plugins/karenaaker.wordpress.com?s=mls
Plugins can be added to your site, but to do so you will need to upgrade to our WordPress.com Business Plan, which will unlock that option. Learn more about our WordPress.com Business Plan here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
