Need help with oxygen theme background color!
-
I am trying to make the background color of my Oxygen theme a blue color and the main section white so it will be white with blue on the sides. When I use the system to set the background it appears the way I want. But, when I hit save, the entire page is blue. I can’t figure out how to make the main area white and outsides blue. Please help!

Hi there,
The background color applies to all of the page, on all pages and posts, throughout the blog. Changing that so you have a blue border around a whit background requires an annually renewable upgrade so you can use CSS editing.If you have not purchased the Premium upgrade bundle which includes the custom design upgrade, then note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.

Instead of applying a background colour through the Colors & Backgrounds section in the Customizer, try doing this via CSS by adding this to your CSS panel:
body { background-color: #2042cc !important; } .site { background-color: #fff; }That should give you this effect on screens that are wide enough to display the blue part of the background:
Let me know if this does the trick. There’s no need to repost in the CSS Customization forum. Thanks!

Hi, I’m working with the same issue. I found that the inside of the blog stays white without the CSS:
.site {
background-color: #fff;
}However, because I can’t choose a color palette without changing the background for the inside of the blog, i don’t know how to change the various font colors. The blog is http://www.dailytheology.org
Thanks!

dailytheology – which text element would you like to change the colour of?
p.s. in future please start a new thread in the CSS Customization forum, thanks!

Oh sorry…well I really want to be able to use the custom color palettes, but since those aren’t an option, I want to be able to change the color of the menu text.
Also, can i upload my own pictures for background images (in Oxygen, this would show up on the sides for laptops and such)?

Ah, I see – you can definitely still use one of the colour palettes if that’s your preference, and then beyond that, just use CSS to tweak any elements you’d like.
Would you like to go ahead and choose your desired colour palette and then let me know which elements you’d like to change beyond that?
Also, can i upload my own pictures for background images (in Oxygen, this would show up on the sides for laptops and such)?
Sure, you can add a background image to the site. Click the background rectangle in the Customizer and then click the “Select Image” button:
Adding specific background images to different pages is a bit more complilcated, but it can be done with CSS – if you’re interested in that, let me know and I’ll explain how.

Thanks for this, i think I figured out the color pallet issue now. And thanks for the background image tip. all working now!

kb100 – this thread is specifically about the Oxygen theme, but I don’t see any of the sites on your account running Oxygen. If you need help customizing a different theme, please provide a link to the site, or provide a link to your site running Oxygen? Thanks!
In future, you can get CSS help in the Customization forum here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization
