need help with plugins and upgrade

  I recently registered for a blog on wordpress.com but upgraded to have the URL be mycompanyname.com instead of mycompanyname.wordpress.com. I needed to install a plugin and have since discovered that wordpress.com sites do not allow plugins. If I need to upgrade to wordpress.org to get the plugin that is fine, but I want to keep the same URL. Is this possible?

  Yes, you can point your domain name that you bought here at your new web host. The web host will give you that information in the welcome email that you will get from them. The following support documents should help you along.
