    Hello WordPress,

    I have been charged for the domain even though I disabled my auto-renewal last year. How do I get my refund back?

    Can you please confirm which domain you are talking about?

    You can also cancel the domain and ask for refund. Here is the support document that will help you out in requesting for refund:

    I am not sure which domain I have (a personal one I assume), however I thought all my information was removed ever since I called in last year for a refund and disabling auto-renewal.

    I accidentally removed my upgrade part of the website yesterday, hoping it will give me back a refund but was not prompt anything.

    I’m happy to process that refund for the annual registration of evacchan.com. First, we have to confirm that you do not have any plans to use that domain again in the future…. Once we cancel the domain it could be impossible for you to regain that ownership again. Even if you want to use the domain with a different provider we need to make sure it does not get cancelled. Please write back to let me know your plans.

    Hello lizkarkoshi,

    I plan to keep with evacchan.wordpress.com and if it is possible in the future, I will try to get the original evacchan.com domain again. So I hope a refund is possible!

  • Hi there,

    If you cancel evacchan.com, you will stop owning it. Eventually it will be released at which point anyone else will be able to register it, so we cannot guarantee you’ll be able to use it again in future if you proceed.

    If you cancel the domain, we can refund your recent renewal payment, but we need you to confirm that you definitely want to cancel your domain, evacchan.com

    I will keep the domain name for this time as it is paid for already. However, as I have already removed the credit card information, will it randomly auto-renew again like last time?

  • We can remove the auto payment (which I have done) If for some reason that wouldn’t work, you’d get an automated email from us regarding the renewal well in advance. Typically it’s like 4 weeks notice. IF you get one of those emails just let us know.

    Thank you lizkarkoski. I didn’t get that email in advance before so hopefully it will come this time.

  • Just noting we won’t send an auto-renew email if auto-renew is disabled. You’ll likely get warnings that the domain is about to expire instead. If all else fails and you don’t get our emails, though, just be sure to log in and renew the domain before its expiration date. Then you can ask us to disable auto renew again if needed.
