Need help with ‘this block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed’

    Getting frustrated. Trying out WP again after being gone for awhile. Never had this problem in the past with the Gutenberg editor but now, on my Mac (most recent version of Big Sur) with any of the major browsers (all updated), I am constantly getting the error in the subject. Safari does not work at all either with a private window or a regular window. Turned off all extensions and the cross-site tracking thing. Doesn’t work. MS Edge worked for a bit then stopped working with the error. Firefox seemed to work in a private window but was glacially slow. In a regular window no workie, even with all extensions, etc turned off. The WP app works but I want to use Safari ;) Anyone have any ideas? Have tried clearing cache in addition to what I mentioned above. help!

    Could you please specify when exactly does the error appear?
    Do you see it on any post/page, or just on a particular one? If it’s just one, please share a link to it (even if it’s just a draft).

    Once it happens it happens for every post/page. If there is something i can look for in the browser dev tools or whatever please let me know. Thanks!

    I tried to edit my ABOUT post. However, when I click on the UPDATE I get this message “Updating failed. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post.” Anyone can please help me out.

    Also, didn’t know about switching between code/visual editor. That actually just worked for me with Safari.

    Looks like this has been fixed? Seems to be working fine in Safari.

  • It has not been fixed yet, but the error appears intermittently, it’s not consistent, so I’m glad to hear it’s working for you now. You can follow the GitHub issue to be notified of any update about this.
