Need help with web browsers labeling my website as 'NOT SECURE'
-
I never received a response via email support so I am asking here. I need help because when people click on
https://charlesaldux.worpress.comor evenhttps://www.charlesaldux.wordpress.comthe web browser says that it is not secure. It is very annoying because it is limiting possible traffic to my website. I post these links in my bio on Discord and some other websites.WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All links to wordpress.com websites are without the ‘www’. Only http://charlesaldux.wordpress.com/ is the link to use.
By the way, the www-prefix was never mandatory. But a lot of people think it is. -
Hi @charlesaldux, as @staartmees mentioned, you’ll need to avoid adding www to your https URLS. You can say http://www.charlesaldux.wordpress.com/ if you’d like. That will redirect automatically. But https://www won’t.
The other link doesn’t work because it says
worpress.comrather thanwordpress.com. Please fix the typo and it’ll work fine. Cheers! -
sorry the worpress.com is a typo on the forum. But it does it with and without the www. ….

Hi @charlesaldux,
When I visit your
charlesaldux.wordpress.comsite, it shows as secure:If you’re not seeing this, try testing in another browser. You can also try clearing your browser cache.
Visiting
www.charlesaldux.wordpress.comwill show as not secure, as that is not a valid URL.Hope that helps.

Here is an example of what it displays when clicked on from Discord: https://linksharing.samsungcloud.com/rPoN43DSMlXg

Keep in mind that in my bio it does not say https://www…..
It says https://charlesaldux.wordpress.com -
Sorry for including a link to the screenshot I didn’t know how to upload an image via mobile.

Alright so I figured it out. When I type into my Discord Bio: https://CharlesAldux.wordpress.com the web browser automatically adds the www. in front of the WordPress blog link making it appear insecure. But when I entered http://www.CharlesAldux.wordpress.com/ it no longer gave the warning. Thanks for the help!

Hi there,
On our end SSL (which gives your site an https URL) is assigned automatically and is free for all WordPress sites.
We don’t use “www” site URLs on WordPress.com as this is no longer considered a best practice by Google, but it sounds like Discord is adding this automatically and causing issues.
It sounds like you have discovered a workaround that will allow the URL to redirect correctly but if you continue to have issues I would recommend reaching out to Discord support. It would be ideal if they did not add a ‘www’ to your site URL automatically. We can’t help with that on our end, but if you reach out to Discord support they will be in the best position to correct the issue.
Thanks!
