Need help with Webmaster Tools Verification

  Saving my code in Webmaster Tools Verification, the entire string of code from “<meta name” to “content=” is removed. Only the numbers following “content=” remain. The Google and Yahoo webmaster tool programs tell me they can’t find the verification code. Am I doing something wrong?
