Need html code for contact me form for sidebar text widget

    Hi everyone!

    http://mrsbitch.wordpress.com here.

I would like to add a contact form just like the [contact-form] widget. However, I don’t have a static landing page and would like to insert the code into a text widget and put it in my sidebar. I cannot get the html to show for the [contact-form] so that I can copy it. I’ve tried putting it in a new page, publishing and then looking at the page html but all I see on my blog when I publish is [contact-form] and the html editor shows the same thing.

Does anyone have the html that goes with that contact form? TIA!

Also, this is not important to solve, but I have a Gravatar linked to my blog that shows up on most other sites I comment at. Is there something I am missing to get it to show here?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The contact form short code will not work in a text widget, only in a page or a post.

If you do not want to create a page, my only other suggestion is to create a sticky post and put the contact shortcode in that. It will appear above your posts for as long as you keep it set as a sticky post.

Gravatars are tied to email addresses. Are you using a different email address when you comment on other blogs from the one in your blog under settings > general?

One other suggestion is to create a contact form page and then put a link to it in your sidebar in a text widget.

Thanks for coming to the rescue again thesacredpath! I ended up creating a page with the contact form and linking to it from my sidebar. Works for me.

Now, however, I would love to understand the difference between pages and posts. By my reasoning, I have three “pages” worth of posts, but when I created a page, I see it’s a whole different animal. My page doesn’t show anywhere on my site unless someone clicks the hyperlink in the sidebar (I’m not complaining, that’s the way I wanted it).

So, if I end up with 470 posts, with 10 posts showing per screen view, none of those count as pages? Or are the sum of my posts one page?

I know there are more pressing issues and question to help with and I’m not in any kind of hurry for a response, but sometime when someone gets a chance if you could straighten this out for me I’d appreciate it. I enjoy working with WordPress and would like to understand what’s going on to make the most of the available options.

Oh, and tsp, I only use one email address any more so that isn’t the problem. I just wonder if it is because my gravatar is PG (lady with a cigarette dangling from her mouth).
