Need info: Incoming mail server for changing "from" email w/ forwarded address

  Hey there, I’m trying to change the “from” email address to reflect the wordpress email I have here, but I need the incoming mail server information to complete this with OS X Mail and Gmail. Any help is appreciated.

  Example: Bob sends me an email at (email visible only to moderators and staff), which forwards to (email visible only to moderators and staff). I want to reply to Bob with gmail and have From read “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi Jessika,

  In OS X Mail, you should be able to accomplish this using the following instructions:

  Could you give that a try?

  Hi Jeremy,

  I found that link, but I haven’t had any luck. I’m lost as what to list for “Incoming Mail Server” once I choose to set it up as an IMAP account (OS X Mail). It’s a similar issue for me when setting up through gmail, I’m lost as what to put for “SMTP Server”. When I plug in “smtp.wordpress.com” it cannot reach the server.

  Hey Jessika,

  I’m still working on this. Didn’t want you to think I forgot about you. I’m trying to get this working correctly on my test domain through OS X Mail so I can provide steps. I’ll keep you posted!

  Hey Jessika,

  I’m experiencing some difficulty getting this setup as well. For right now, it looks like this isn’t possible within OS X Mail since it’s attempting to setup a new outgoing mail server. I’ll get back with you shortly to confirm though!

  Hey Jessika,

  It looks like it’s not possible to setup an email alias (a different “From” address) in Gmail. The feature was available until around August 5th, but then was removed per this announcement:

  I apologize! I’ll be updating our docs to reflect this change.
