Need IP address for my site

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a WordPress site, but I purchased the domain name from a domain name registrar (1 & 1 Internet). I need to make some changes to edit the MX server information, but to do that, the registrar has told me I need to temporarily reset the DNS to their servers, make the changes, and then point back to WordPress. They told me I need the IP address in order to do this. Can someone help or make a suggestion about how to handle this?

  • Hi there,

You don’t appear to have any domains on WordPress.com. The domain, hearteastmoreland.org, belongs to the username, ihearteastmoreland, as does the domain mapping upgrade for ihearteastmoreland.org. I can only help you make changes to those domains if you request it while logged in as that user.

That said, you don’t need the DNS pointed at your registrar to connect email. You can add the MX records you need directly to the domain on our end, and the end result will be exactly the same. We recommend adding the records on this end, rather than using IPs to point your domain to us.

You can find instructions how to add the MX records to your domain’s DNS here:

    http://support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-other-email/

I’m also happy to help you add those. Please log in as the account that owns the domain and reply here with the records you need added, and I can add them for you.
