need IP address to secure my blog using new domain name
-
I bought a new domain name for my blog from GoDaddy. I am not changing the official blog URL, but merely using the domain as a vanity URL to forward people to my blog. However, people using my new vanity URL are being told my site is not secure and may be trying to steal their information. I contacted GoDaddy and they said I have to obtain my WordPress hosting IP address and add it to my new domain DNS. I looked up an article regarding this, and it led me to post here. Please provide me with my hosting IP address.

Hi there!
The proper way to use a domain that’s registered elsewhere with a WordPress.com site (so that the domain gets the SSL certificate) is to either transfer the domain to WordPress.com or use a domain connection. Both of those will require a paid WordPress.com plan.
If you don’t want to transfer the domain from GoDaddy to WordPress.com, please follow these steps:
1. Upgrade to a paid plan by going to https://wordpress.com/plans
2. After upgrading, follow the instructions here to add a Domain Connection: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
3. After connecting the domain, the IP addresses will show up on your dashboard. More on that here. You’ll get live chat or email support after you upgrade (depending on which plan you go for). So if you decide to upgrade, you can go to https://wordpress.com/help/contact to reach out to us for faster support if you have more questions.
Hope that helps!
