need keyboard instruction

@vkrecipev1ck13 I have a follow up question for you.
When you’re composing your posts, are you using the standard post editor window from the Dashboard (e.g. https://cookrih.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php) , or are you composing from the quickpost drop-down menu (e.g. http://wordpress.com/post/) ?

the last few times i used dashboard. i find dashboard more preferable and will use it in future.
thanks

Hi Jackie,
The WP tutorial on aligning photo is not helpful because NO Instruction on how to do it with a keyboard was given.
I want to insert some photos in specific places in my article and align them left.I am using dashboard to place photos already uploaded into media library.
After placing cursor in desired place, I tapped out of edit box and chose ‘IMG’ Button. The dialog box that appeared only allow for ‘photo path’ and ‘label description’ . no choises for alignment. After clicking ‘OK’, I was returned to edit page but couldn’t find option to align photo.
How do I align photo using keyboard?
Where is the ‘Alignment’ dialog box?
My draft page:

I’m not sure if the alignment option is available via keyboard. My best recommendation is to modify the IMG HTML code that is inserted into your post:
class=”alignnone
You can replace ‘none’ with ‘left’, ‘center’, or ‘right’ in the code you can view in your text editor.
Because many of these issues are common to both WordPress.com and the version of WordPress that can be downloaded at WordPress.org, you might find interesting is the WordPress Accessibility initiative, http://make.wordpress.org/accessibility/ . A group of people work to improve all elements of WordPress accessibility, and since it is a community initiative, we would welcome your involvement as well.

thanks Jackie,
can you please provide a more full code ?
for image path of file, just XXXXX to represent that will do but i am not sure about how to write the alignment bit.will follow your suggestion to visit the accessibility page.
thank you

In your existing post at http://cookrih.wordpress.com/2014/02/11/a-perk-me-up-drink-2/ you have the following code:
[caption id="attachment_16" align="alignright" width="276"]You could modify it to be align=”alignleft” or align=”aligncenter” or align=”alignnone” to change the image alignment.
Note that this is an image with a caption; if it doesn’t have a caption you will still have the align code but it will be phrased slightly differently.

thanks Jackie,
i have succeeded in aligning the photo and found a website that provided useful tips for using wordpress. hope i won’t need to trouble you again
cheers

Dear Jackie,
How do I code for picture to appear in the webpage? For more than a week I had tried various ways to place another photo into
http://cookrih.wordpress.com/moisturize-for-lovelier-skin/
All failed. I don’t know why the media library did not provide the path to the image file like previous images. The links currently are:
http://cookrih.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=50
And the short link: http://wp.me/a4jCgc-OI tried using as per above as well as put within <img src tags. No picture appeared, only a clickable link to the image file.
0————-
WHAT I DID:
The current photo “congeeMaker”: I opened page in text editor mode and uploaded photo from my PC to the page.
Then went to image library to get image file path but only obtained as shown above.Previously I tried the method used for other photos by uploading to image library, then to obtain path but result was same as current one: http://cookrih.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=45
I deleted that photo and short link. -
@vkrecipev1ck13 Sorry for the delay. I see a picture on that page now, were you able to resolve the issue? You can read more about images at http://en.support.wordpress.com/images
Looking forward to your reply.

Dear kardotim
Hanks for responding. I have read the images instructions many times. It is aimed at sighted mouse user, not blind keyboard user.I don’t mean the first photo of the food, soy red bean. I could get the path to that.
Under the ‘ COMMENTS’ of my article I tried to put in another photo ‘CONGEE-MAKER’.
It is a photo of a jug-like machine (congeeMaker.jpg).My problems with images are as a blind keyboard only user:
1- I cannot use a mouse and the visual editor. Only a text editor.2- When I place the cursor in my article, then open the image library in pre-uploaded image, I cannot click on the image to activate even though I can hear the name. Only a mouse click can do that, not a keyboard click. I suspect the developer forgot to put in keyboard control.
3- Using the text editor and the img button, the short link provided for congeeMaker is displayed as a LINK to another webpage, NOT a photo in the article.
————————-
In the image library I could not get the photo path like the first picture.
Only the following:
Attachment link for congeeMaker.jpg: http://cookrih.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=50
Short link: http://wp.me/a4jCgc-OThe first picture path is like this:
http://cookrih.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/soyredbean.jpgsoyredbean.jpg has the ‘file’ and the date the photo was uploaded. congeeMaker doesn’t have such information. So how do I get the missing info?
Congee maker was uploaded a week later after I had made some changes to my personal settings. (chose a different theme and checked box to use https in admin. Have since reverted back to original default settings but problem of ‘No image path’ remained)
Then I deleted congeeMaker photo. Re-upload using option to upload directly into my page using text editor.
So how do I write the code using the ‘attachment_id=50’ or the shortlink for photo to appear on page?
-
You would use the same code you used to insert the first image, replacing the old url with the new one. I suspect the url is in a different format because you uploaded it directly from the edit screen, which automatically attached it to that post. I’ll see if I can confirm that and get back to you to see if that’s 100% accurate, but that’ll probably be sometime tomorrow as it’s getting a little late here.
-
yes, i attached the photo to the article in the page. and i don’t know how it should be coded. that is why i asked for the code for the attachment. would appreciate if you can let me know how to write the code.
thanks

I see. This is the direct link to the congeemaker image file: http://cookrih.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/congeemaker1.jpg
You can either copy the code from the other image and replace the image url, or simply use this code:
<img src="http://cookrih.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/congeemaker1.jpg"> -
Thanks kardotim,
That was the info I couldn’t find. Can you please tell me where you got it?
What is the path to that info?
Thanks

You can find the HTML tags to use in your text editor at http://support.wordpress.com/code/#html-tags and http://www.w3schools.com/tags/default.asp
-
Hi kardotim,
I did not make myself clear enough.
1-
I am referring to how to get the DIRECT LINK of congeeMaker (e.g.:- /2014/03/congeemaker1.jpg
), not the code ‘<img src…’ which I had been using for my past few articles. In previous photo uploads there was a popup for me to copy the image path direct link BUT NOT for this photo.
2-
The tutorials for IMAGES did not explain how a text editor user can get the image direct link nor what all those buttons with names such as strong/ins/img/em etc. mean. mean. I have to find them out by trial and error.3-
What confused me was the following:
attachment_id=50 and the short link for congeeMaker
when either were pasted into <img src=”” alt=”” /> did not appear as photos but as links.
When used on their own, no photos appeared either. That I thought the code should be written differently, not <img src…
CS School does not provide info either. -
I see. Attachment URLs (like attachment_id=50) don’t work with img src codes because these links to attachment pages and not the direct file url. These instructions explain how to get the File URL of an image: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/image-widget/#getting-image-url
I’ve added some more text in this support guide to make clear that the buttons in the text editor refer to HTML tags along with a link to a page where an overview of these tags can be found: http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/#text-editor
-
Hi kardotim,
That’s what I had done with all images to get the direct link. I ticked the checkbox on image, then click edit. For congeeMaker, it didn’t work.
Information for the blind is mediated by our screenreader and things sometimes have to be done slightly differently.• Poking around, I’ve found I have to click on ‘CODE’.
Then, a modal appeared with a direct link in edit box for me to copy. Thanks for adding info for TEXT EDITOR.
For the blind, I learnt from Bob that I have to click on ‘Screen option’ first, which will expose more useful functionality to us. Then choose Text editor.cheers
