How come WordPress.com doesn’t show these widget?
1)I’d like to be able to have my readers get my articles in their newsreader of choice.
I really like what this guy has done. Feedburner I think.

2) Would like to do the book recommendations with Amazon. The guy above’s blog has an example too
Tried doing it with text widget, but didn’t render correctly. Ended up with a link to a table that appeared in seperate page. Not what I intended.I think I need to know the darned Amazon ASIN’s I think to craft it by hand.
3)Followers – like Blogspot. See:

Please read types of blogs allowed and not allowed at wordpress.com. Take particular note of the section titled: Affiliate marketing blogs: > http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

There are also advertising restrictions. Please read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

@jgfmk
Please remove the URL that you have linked to your wordpress.com username and link your wordpress.com blog to your wordpress.com username instead. Nothing is more frustrating to us Volunteers than typing lengthy answers to questions posed in wordpress.com forum threads, only to find the party posting does not have a wordpres.com blog and is posting to the wrong forum.Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard > Users > Your Profile. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ and fill in the address of your blog and then click ‘Update Profile‘.

Re: Feedburner
If you wish you can set up email updates your readers can subscribe to via Feedburner. See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-subscriptions/There is also this alternative > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/blog-subscription-widget/

timetheif. FYI I do have a wordpress.com blog.
The contact info refers to my Google profile, which links back to the WordPress.com blog. It’s the first link on the Google profile. And it has the same context as my blog. gr8fanboy.
Thanks for feedburner tip. The RSS one won’t give me the Yahoo reader say, which is what I want to be able to give my readers.
Also thanks for clarifying marketing stance re – Amazon.
Will look into follower widget. -
timetheif. Is that a “No” on Followers.. Like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Lots of dead ends. Twitter Followers not allowed etc. -
Hello again,
WordPress.com sends your published blog posts to several places to automatically promote them for you. … You can also choose to send your posts to any of several third party services. Currently, WordPress.com Publicize supports the following.
* Yahoo! Profiles via Yahoo! Updates
* Twitter

The reason I asked you to link the wordpress.com blog to your wordpress.com username is that this is a peer support forum. For us Volunteers being able to either click the username and instantly to see if it’s a wordpress.com blog is a real time saver. If you don’t want to do that then you can simply post the URL of the wordpress.com blog each time you post to the forum. :)

BTW in case you want to do some searching yourself, this is the link to the wordpress.com support documentation. :) http://en.support.wordpress.com/

What I liked about feedburner is you can select a reader.
The link you sent was geared towards getting people to submit an email address.
Whilst I like a lot of what WordPress has to offer, I’m beginning to wonder if Blogger is going to be more for me. Followers is a big one for me. I’ll think about this for a few days and make my decision.
I’d prefer to have complete control over how I craft the HTML too. The whole Feedburner chicklet thing and selecting readers was what I wanted to have on the site. -

All wordpress.com blogs come equipped with RSS feeds for both entries (posts) and for comments. Please click the link so you can see that my readers can choose the feedreader of their choice:
