Need new CSS codes for page-links and footer areas
-
Hi. Yesterday, I changed my theme from Triton Lite to Sight. The pages in my Portfolio section and footer, also on those pages are out of order. In the portfolio section (pages 1-8), there are gaps on the right side and the footer is mostly out of the white area. Also, I can’t seem to add on my copyright information in the footer area. Can someone help? Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I forgot. For some reason the page links on page 1 in my portfolio section, looks different than the other pages. Can someone help me on that too? Thank you.

I was able to get help with the gap issue on the Portfolio pages that I was having, the page-links, and fixing the footer on the first 7 pages.
On page 8, the footer is still out of order. Can this be fixed?
Also, is there a way to add on my copyright information on the footer?
Thank you in advance.

Firstly your custom CSS is dependent on the theme you use, so what worked in Triton Lite might not automatically work in Sight. It might be worth checking that some of your previous rules aren’t causing your current problems.
Here’s how to add some text below your existing footer:
.site-info:after { content:"Copyright Roderick Usher 1839"; display:block; color:#000; }Which of your pages is page 8, could you paste in the URL to the specific page so we can check?

I just communicated with a staff member and he said that they don’t allow copyright information to be added anymore. So I don’t think that I can use the CSS code.
For the page 8 situation, my URL is http://ebonymcfarland.wordpress.com/

Will you please copy and paste what you received from Staff here so we Volunteers are aware of this change, when it was made and any rationale for it as well.

Hi timethief:
The following is the link of the conversation with the Staff member:

That is a link to private support thread and we cannot connect to it and read what is there. Please copy and paste.

Sorry. The following is the last few interactions:

Three, I still can’t seem to get the following to show up in the footer: content: “Copyright © 2014 Ebony McFarland”;Staff member:
We actually don’t allow the changing of the footer, according to our terms of service:Me:
Thank you for helping me with the page links.I don’t want to change the footer. I just wanted to add the copyright information. On the theme that I was using before, I was able to add my copyright information and still had the “Create a free website” part on there. So there’s no way I can add the copyright information?
Staff member:
Hi there!Adding the copyright info IS changing the footer I’m afraid.
Your CSS has changed for the different theme, so while I can see in the forums someone has given you the way to do, we don’t provide it for you to do :)
Me:
OK. Thank you very much for your help.Me:
I contacted the CSS customization forum and someone gave me the following code:.site-info:after {
content:”Copyright Roderick Usher 1839″;
display:block;
color:#000;
}I just want to make sure. Is this acceptable?
Staff member:
It’s not something we endorse and it may be removed in the future, but it is technically possible, yes. -

Interesting change for sure – I could understand not letting people change the WordPress part at all, since many people dump the WordPress text into small and same color as the background – but adding a copyright notice seems harmless to me –

Oh dear. I’ve helped quite a lot of people add small bits of copyright text to their footers. The TOS and the custom design support page seem to be at odds though.
From the TOS:
Footer credits and the WordPress.com toolbar may not be altered or removed regardless of upgrades purchased.
June 12, 2013: Edited “Attribution” paragraph to specify that footer credits and the WordPress.com toolbar may not be altered.
From the support page:
Modifying the style of the footer text (i.e. colors and font size) is fine as long as it’s still readable.
I’m aware that policy changes can happen at any time (and are made with good reason) but some clarification would be appreciated. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble by helping them do something fairly harmless like turning their footer text purple or adding “Copyright 2014” to it!

I just need the white color in the footer on page 8 in my portfolio section to make it look like the other pages. Is there a way to do this? Thank you.

@egm28, I think the issue on page 8 of your portfolio is caused by an error in the syntax in the portfolio page itself. Let’s try this first. Go to settings > writing and near the top select to have WordPress automatically correct nested HTML and then save. Then open your portfolio page in the editor, switch to the “text” tab and then back to the “visual” tab and update the page and see if the issue goes away.

Hi the sacred path:
I just tried everything you said and unfortunately, it didn’t work.
Also, that selection that you wanted me to make is actually called, “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” instead XHTML. Does that make a difference or is that what you meant to say?
Thank you for helping me.
