Need .org in domain name
-
I have a blog on WordPress.com. I want to pay the $18 and register it as ncfnavigator.org. The only option I see is ncfnavigator.com. How do you get an .org address through WordPress.com?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

According to this page, it doesn’t seem WordPress.com supports registering a .org domain name.
You can register a .org domain with a third party registry, and then have WordPress recognize it. I think they still charge an additional fee for this…the total cost is usually a little more expensive but I actually recommend it for most people because it is more flexible and I think that it’s valuable to have your domain registered with a company that gives you more local control.

Worked it out, thanks. Simply go to Store and purchase .org. The option doesn’t appear in the default form you see on your dashboard.

Actually, WordPress does allow for .org domains, but I’m finding conflicting reports online that say ncfnavigator.org is (and isn’t!) already registered by someone else. So maybe there’s some sort of registration status change happening that’s blocking that.
Teacology’s suggestion is a good one, and just to add: here’s the link for info on mapping an existing domain to your WordPress site once you own it.
