Need refund for business plan

    I signed up for WordPress a year ago (for £120) and haven’t used it since due to a variety of reasons.

    Anyhow, 3 days ago I was surprisingly charged £250 out of the blue for a ‘business plan’. Besides the fact that it’s over double what I paid last year (not sure how a price increase of that nature can be justified), I simply don’t use this service and would like a refund.

    Sadly getting a refund hasn’t been easy so far. Maybe it’s cause I’m not familiar with this website, but it seems like making this forum post is my best bet. Would’ve preferred to have spoken to customer service though.

    Can anyone help?

    For reference, I filed a dispute with PayPal as soon as the £255 came out cause I genuinely didn’t know what it was about. That dispute was rejected and I’m not sure what to do.

    For reference, I filed a dispute with PayPal as soon as the £255 came out cause I genuinely didn’t know what it was about. That dispute was rejected and I’m not sure what to do.

    Any renewal payment will be refunded automatically, provided you cancel the upgrade within the refund period. You can do this from the Purchases page at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases, or by contacting live chat support.

    But filing a dispute removes the plan so you can no longer contact live chat support, and it prevents us from issuing a refund – disputed charges can only be refunded once the payment processor completes their investigation, which can take several months.

    In this case, as PayPal has already rejected the dispute, I was able to process your refund. As this is a direct PayPal payment, the refund should reflect in your PayPal account within a few hours.

    You paid £120 for the plan last year, as you used at 50% discount coupon to buy it. For the renewal you were charged full price. We sent you an email to warn of the upcoming renewal on 15 March. It sounds like that might have landed in your spam folder if you didn’t see it.

    Update: I received a full refund. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with this post or if it was because I cancelled my plan but I think it might be the latter
